Our Featured Pet Dennis
Cinder is a beautiful short hair multicolored cat. She is what we would call a dilute torti, just because of her coat of many colors! She was abandoned and being fed by a neighbor who was getting ready to move, and did not want her to starve. She is sisters we believe with LoLo, because they look exactly alike and are the same age.
Cinder was a nursing mother when she was found. We believe the neighbors took her babies, although when asked they denied it. She was captured and we discovered she had milk, so we took her back to the area she was caught and she ran right to the porch of the neighbors and started looking under it for her babies. Fortunately we had babies who needed milk, so it all worked out.
She has been spayed, tested for feluk/fiv, vaccinated for rabies, distemper and leukemia, wormed and treated for fleas. She is very sweet, and likes to talk. She will try to get outside because she still wants to get to her babies. This will pass, but caution is needed when leaving the residence.
Check out her profile on our page for further information on her. For an adoption appointment for Cinder, or any of our other cats, please call us at 419-289-3658, we'll be expecting your call! We do require a verifiable veterinarian reference prior to adoption on all of our cats. You can also email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
The Cat House Feline Sanctuary, Inc., was built in the summer of 2005. We are a non-profit , 501(c)(3) designated charity. We are currently housing approximately 125 cats and kittens at our facility and in foster homes throughout Ashland County, Ohio. Thanks to the generosity of the Ashland County community and our friends on the web, we received a $10,000 shelter expansion grant from The Pepsi Refresheverything Challenge in 2011. We received an additional $5,000 in funds from our local Ashland County Community Foundation, to help us expand our existing sanctuary to serve 125 cats by the spring of 2011. This means we have expanded our building 4 times in the last 7 years to meet the increasing number of homeless/abandoned cats in Ashland County Ohio. This will unfortunately be our last expansion to this structure, as we are out of room to add on.
We are still the ONLY active no-kill 501(c)(3) sanctuary for cats in Ashland County, Ohio, and your financial support is CRITICAL to our suvival. We receive NO private/government/county funding, we exist solely on the generosity of those able to donate financially to our cats. We are entirely 100% run by volunteers, we have NO paid staff, including our director who is also a volunteer, so 100% of your donation goes to the care and feeding and medical treatment of our cats
All of our cats are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated for rabies, leukemia, and distemper, tested for feline aids (FIV) and leukemia (Feluk), wormed and flea treated. We also treat each of them for any medically necessary conditions to help them become healthy adoptable kitties.
We have a wide range of cats looking for new homes. We have a variety of ages from seniors cats to adults, and occasionally kittens. We have long hair, short hair, a variety of colors, some de-clawed, males and females, as well as siblings. We also have a few special need cats, so we are sure that we can find the right match for your family. All of our cats are part of our families, no one is in cages, so we know them very well.
The Cat House Feline Sanctuary can only continue to exist through donations from the community. While monetary donations are crucial and appreciated, we can also use donations of paper towels, laundry, soap and bleach, as well as gently used blankets, towels, pet linens, pet carriers, kennels, and crates. While we appreciate the generosity, we only use Scoopable cat litter, and prefer Purina Cat food dry cat food, as we need to minimize confusion for the cats in our care. Our friends at Ashland Vet Clinic at 626 E. Main Street have agreed to collect donations for us. Just let them know that the donation is for The Cat House when you drop it off. We have received our 501(c)(3) IRS designation as a charity, so we are now a tax deductable donation. Receipts are provided by mail, so please provide your information. Please feel free to visit our website at www.thecathousefelinesanctuary.org formation about our other programs as well. We also accept financial donations through paypal, and you can make a donation for our sanctuary right on our website by clicking the paypal button. You can also follow us on facebook, we are a GROUP listed under The Cat House Feline Sanctuary. We are also responsible for The Checkered Pantry ~ A Food Pantry for pets, Ashland County's one and only resource. We have added a link to the Donate a Thundershirt campaign below, and will give each donated shirt to a family with a dog needing one, through our pantry! Just another way we try and keep families together!
