News

Statistics Did You Know? There are 70,000 puppies and kittens born in the United States every day. An unspayed female cat, her mate and all their offspring, producing two litters per year, with 2.8 surviving kittens per year can total 11,606,077 kittens in just nine years! An unspayed female dog, her mate and all of their puppies and their puppies' puppies, if none are ever neutered or spayed, can add up to 67,000 puppies in just six years.

Pet Overpopulation Each day, 10,000 humans are born in the United States, and each day, 70,000 puppies and kittens are born. As long as these birth rates exist, there will never be enough homes for all the animals. As a result, millions of healthy and loving cats, dogs, puppies and kittens face early deaths as a form of animal control. Others are left to fend for themselves against automobiles, the elements, wild animals and cruel humans. What can you do to stop the suffering? Spay and neuter your pets.

Who We Are

The Ross County (Ohio) Humane Society, Inc. is an independent organization supported by memberships, contributions and bequests. Your tax-deductible donations will help us save more animals, and do more for people.
The Humane Society is a nonprofit corporation governed by a Board of Directors comprised of volunteers from the community who are dedicated to animal welfare. We are committed to the general welfare, sheltering and placement of animals, prevention of cruelty to animals, animal overpopulation, and education concerning humane treatment of all living creatures. The Society is not controlled or funded by any state-wide or national organization. Donations made to national animal welfare groups do not benefit our local pets.
