Who We Are

MidWest Mutts...we don't discriminate against pure bred dogs either!

MidWest Mutts is a small rescue operation located East of Cincinnati, Ohio. We require potential adopters to complete an adoption application and vet references which are verified by rescue personnel. We also require a home visit and a binding adoption contract before any dogs are placed in an adopters home.

Adoption fees are $150.00 for adults and $175.00 for puppies due to extra vaccinations and de-worming treatments needed for puppies. The adoption fees are for covering the expense of getting the dog from the shelter and for getting the dog spayed/neutered, vet checked, wormed, heart worm tested and treated if needed, and vaccinated. If a dog or puppy requires additional vetting the adoption fee may be increased to help cover those expenses. For instance if we need to cover treating for heartworms or parvo virus.

A completed application form including vet reference and pre-adoption home visit is required. Renters need to include a letter from their landlord stating dogs are allowed when submitting their application. Please email us for an application. Due to the large volume of emails we receive, specific questions about a dog will not be answered until an application is submitted. All the pertinent information that is available about a dog is typically listed on the dog's Petfinder posting so please read it carefully.

On average our expenses are well over the adoption fee for healthy dogs and does not include any treatment if a dog becomes sick once in foster care. We rely on donations and the adoption fee to be able to help more dogs in need. Additionally, the estimated amount does not cover food, treats, toys, bedding, heartworm and flea/tick preventative, collars, leashes, etc. That is covered by our volunteers and foster Moms and Dads, so gift cards to Wal-Mart, Petco, PetSmart or any other store that sells pet supplies are always appreciated to help defray the cost of the daily expenses involved in fostering these dogs.

We do not have a shelter or kennel for you to visit as our dogs reside in foster homes. We are always in need of donations so we can help other dogs in need, get dogs out of shelters, and put them into boarding so they will be safe until adopted. Foster homes and home visit volunteers are always needed. Please email shorton0416@gmail.com if you would like to help in any way.
