Dundee here. These people at the shelter named me Dundee because they thought I was a little scruffy and the name just fit. They believe me to be a cattle dog mix. They tell me that I have the body of a cattle dog with a little added scruff. Whats not to love about that. I am roughly about a year old, so I am still full of plenty of energy. I am some what cage shy and hesitant to come. However, get me out of my cage and I can be your best friend if just given the chance. Come down to the shelter and see me today!

We have tons of small dogs and a couple large dogs in need of great homes. If you have lost a pet or are looking for one, please look at the shelter first. There are so many animals who are put to sleep just because no one wants them and they are so amazing. We have Pure Breeds, Mixes, 'n Mutts... They all have awesome personalities and are so sweet. So please, if you're considering adopting a pet, check at the Shelter before a pet store. You may find you best friend.
Who We Are
The Shelby County Animal Shelter is a County office designed to serve the residents of Shelby County and the Surrounding area. We answer calls for stray dogs, complaints of dogs running at large, as well as animal kills by dogs and coyotes in a timely manner. Don't assume because the Police Dept. or Sheriff's Office is contacted that we will respond. Call us the following day on complaints and dog bites to make sure we are aware of the call and if we are responding. We are open to people looking for a pet, people looking for a missing pet, and to people who just want to look at the animals. We accept dogs and cats from owners as well as strays. A fee may be involved. Call the office during hours of operation to make sure. We offer tips for pet care and have information in general for animal owners.
Adopting a friend
Adoptions at the Shelter involve a fairly simple process. First, an application form must be completed. Dogs three months and up are $44. This fee includes the dog license and adoption fee. However, if the dog has been spayed or neutered by the shelter the price is $74.00. Puppies' 8 weeks to 3 months adoption fee is $35. This includes a DHLP booster, the dog license and adoption fee. Cats and kittens are $15. Please remember that our animals receive no vet care. So please seek out a veterinarian of your choice as soon as possible to spay and neuter.
Come Visit Us!
Our shelter is open Monday thru Friday 9am to 5pm, Saturday 9-1 and closed on Sunday except during special events. We answer emergency calls on off hours only. If you need to contact us during off hours, we can be reached by calling the Shelby County Sheriff's office or Sidney Police Dept.
