"Rumor Has It" is a special little Yorkie/Pom cross. He is a young adult - just a year old - who was surrendered by his owner. Rumor is an affectionate dog who was most likely handled too roughly in his former home and may have been injured in the rib area. He is learning to enjoy being held and petted. He needs a special person who is willing to work with him in gaining trust. Once Rumor learns to rely on people for the good things in life and to trust them to provide, he'll be a great little house dog.
Sad News
We rescued two dogs from a county kill shelter over the Labor Day 2007 weekend. They did not appear sick at first, but apparently had picked up Parvo while running as strays. They broke with clinical signs of it within 36 hours of coming here. We took them to the CARE Center in Cincinnati, a 24-hour emergency and referral vet clinic with an excellent staff. In spite of their best efforts to save them, both dogs died. All seven of Mocha's puppies had been exposed to one of the dogs and they contracted Parvo, too. The CARE Center staff were able to save five of them.
Because of the enormous cost involved in treating those nine dogs, which was over $15,000, and because the Parvo Virus could be surviving in our grassy area that the infected dogs had access to for up to eight months, we are unable to accept any rescue dogs until summer 2008. We are listing the few dogs we still have here, plus rescue dogs who are being fostered by others. Please contact us if you are able to foster a dog or puppy so that when we come across those in need we do not have to turn them away. We will support your foster efforts as much as we're able!!
Who We Are
Serenity Rock is a very small, non-profit dog rescue organization located in southern Ohio. We have room for only a few dogs or puppies at one time, so we try to take those who would be adoptable but for a problem that county animal shelters don't have the time or resources to rehabilitate.
My name is Julie and I'm an attorney, a Certified Humane Education Specialist, and a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. My mother, Nancy, is a retired Registered Nurse and nursing instructor, a Certified Nurse Practitioner, and a life-long dog owner/trainer. Between us we provide love, training, quality food, and vet care (vaccinations, spay/neuter, and any necessary treatment) to the dogs we rescue. This is our labor of love!
In our three years in operation, we have placed over 100 dogs with wonderful people, expanding our dog family exponentially with caring owners!!
Adopting a friend
It is extremely important to us that the few dogs and puppies who we have rescued are adopted into the right situation for them. They stay here until an appropriate match can be made and are welcomed back if a placement doesn't work out for ANY reason. Please contact us with any questions you may have.
Come Visit Us!
We welcome visitors and are eager to introduce you to our special dogs. We have all the rescue dogs at our home and invite people here by appointment. Give us a call!
