Who We Are

We are a small rescue located in the Akron/Cleveland area. We are committed to rescuing those animals who are in danger of being gassed in County Pounds throughout Ohio. We will also take in pets that are in crisis situations as well as owner surrenders on a limited basis. While we would love to take in every animal in need, space limits us to do so. For safety reasons, we are unable to take in any dog with a history of being a biter. All of our rescues are in a home environment with children and other homeless pets. They are all evaluated for temperament and behavior and learn basic commands. All rescues are vetted, and spayed or neutered. Any issues they have are addressed and they are then retrained in order to be given a second chance at life in a forever home. So take a look at some of our furkids and find your new best friend!

Ginger's Story

Ginger was a stray that we took in who was ill. Her owners never took the time to show how much they loved her by having her vaccinated. She ended up contracting three feline diseases which took their toll on her respiratory system. When she became too ill, they abandoned her. She wandered up onto our porch and came right in without any coaxing. She ate a nice hot meal and curled up on the bed and went to sleep. We took her to the vet but there was nothing they could do for her. So we brought her back home and showed her love like she had never known before.

She lingered for a few short weeks before passing away on November 11th, 2004. Her last days were filled with coughing spells that shook her body violently while she struggled to breath. She lost her appetite for food, but still kept her appetite for affection. She lost so much weight during her illness that her bones were visible and her fur hung off her like a coat 4 sizes too big. For the short time she was with us she left such an imprint on our hearts, and is still missed every day.

Please.........have your pets tested for diseases. Have them vaccinated, spayed or neutered. And love them each day like it was their last. Because one day it just may be.

News

We are now collecting used ink jet and laser jet cartridges as well as used cell phones, working or not. We are turning these into Cash For Critters to raise money for homeless pets. We can pick up in most instances. Consider donating your used items to our cause!

We are always in need of donations. Items we can use are dog and puppy food, cat food, kitten chow, cat litter, old blankets, pet carriers, cat and dog toys, cat and dog treats, mops, and most of all cleaning products. You may also make a monetary donation. Please contact us for more details on where to send donations.

Want to get more involved with homeless pets? We currently have an urgent need for dedicated individuals to assist with our rescue efforts. We need foster homes for our homeless pets as well as help with fundraising, keeping our website updated, walking and bathing dogs, socializing animals, and working on training. We also need help with maintaining feral cat colonies. This can include feeding, trapping, socializing, and helping with vetting. We would love to have you join our rescue and help it grow! Please contact us for more details on volunteering.

Adopting a Friend

  • You must be over 21 years of age to adopt a pet.
  • We do not adopt to students or members of the military.
  • We do not adopt dogs to families with small children unless there has been a dog in the home previously and the child knows how to respect a dog's space.
  • And we do not, under any circumstances, adopt our pets as a "gift" for someone else.
  • All members of your family MUST come to meet our rescues. No one member may come to choose a pet for the entire family.

While this may seem harsh, this is our policy and we do abide by it. Please understand we are only trying to find the best homes for our homeless pets. We take great care in evaluating each of our rescues and placing the right pet with the right family. They deserve nothing less than that. And they don't ask for more than that in return for the love and companionship they give to you and your family unconditionally.

Our Adoption Process

To be considered you must request and complete an adoption application. Once your application has been verified you can set up a time to meet our rescues. You must agree to a home visit before the pet can be adopted. You must also agree to a follow-up visit after adoption. Our adoption donations vary depending on which rescue you are interested in. Once an adoption has taken place we will make ourselves available to you for any issues you may have regarding the transition. To date all of our rescues have had a smooth transition process with little or no concerns.
