WE ARE IN
DESPERATE
NEED OF
FOSTER
HOMES
Every day, hundreds of friendly, loving, adoptable animals are put to sleep in shelters simply due to lack of space. Please help us save as many as we can by fostering a dog or puppy in need today!
Since we do not have a shelter, we can only rescue as many animals as we have foster homes for. ALL ANIMALS ARE FULLY VETTED PRIOR TO ADOPTION! A New Leash On Life Rescue pays for all necessary medical care. We just ask you to provide food (on occasion) and a loving home for a needy animal.

Harvey needs your help with his broken leg!
Harvey is an adorable 5 month old Rat Terrier/Smooth Fox Terrier mix that came to us from the Ashtabula County APL where he was brought in as a stray. It was quickly determined that he had suffered some trauma to his right hind leg, and A New Leash On Life Rescue stepped up to help him. After seeing our vet and having x-rays done, it was discovered that Harvey's femur was broken right above his knee, and due to it being an older, displaced fracture that was healing improperly, we were referred to an orthopedic specialist in Akron.
The specialist felt that Harvey's leg could be repaired, but needed to be addressed immediately, so surgery was scheduled the same day as his consultation.
Thankfully, everything went very well! The surgeon was able to clean the scar tissue out of the area, re-break and properly align the femur, and then used 2 pins to set it in place. Harvey will need extensive post-operative care and potentially physical therapy, but the specialist is confident that he will make a full recovery. There is a possibility that his right hind leg may be a tiny bit shorter than his left, but we don't know for sure yet. In any case, he'll be able to use the leg, and live a full, happy and pain-free life!
If you can help, please donate via our chip-in fundraising link! No amount is too small - every little bit helps! A New Leash On Life Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit organization, and receipts will be sent for all donations. Please contact us at newleashrescue@gmail.com if you have any questions! Thanks so much.
