WHO WE ARE...

Indian Summers Rescue is a "BORDER COLLIE BREED RESCUE" located just east of Canton, Ohio at A Place of Hope founded by Dr. Victoria Summers. A Safe Haven Shelter, known as the Silver Muzzle Country Club is home to the Indian Summers BC Gang made up of Aging Seniors and Special Needs Border Collies living with cancer or other illnesses. These Special Individuals are in need of long term care and medical help. If you would like to sponsor a Silver Muzzle Country Club Member please email us for more details. No Donation is Too Small and All are Tax Deductible. Indian Summers Border Collie Rescue is an All Volunteer, Donation Run Program Service of OAIC, Inc. a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization established in 1982 and Incorporated in the State of Ohio. Our Program Purpose is to RESCUE, ALTER, REHAB, THEN CORRECTLY MATCH TO AN APPROPRIATE FOREVER HOME. Provide Lifetime Education, Advice and Support as to the proper health care and welfare of companion animals and the dire need of a zero population growth through Spaying and Neutering. Indian Summers Border Collie Rescue follows a STRICT NO KILL & MANDATORY SPAY NEUTER POLICY. Indian Summers Rescue is dedicated to the care, rehabilitation and correct placement of companion animals including those with special needs. We will also post courtesy listings for ANY BREEDS in need of rehoming.

WE'RE FOR DOGS...

Indian Summers BC Rescue supports education for public awareness and law reform in the areas of Animal Rights and The Enforcement of said Laws and the creation of New and Harsher Penalties for Animal Abuse, Neglect, Abandonment and the abolishment of Puppy Mills.

FACT: OHIO HAS SOME OF THE WORST ANIMAL RIGHTS PROTECTION LAWS IN THE U.S.

You Can Make a Difference in the Life of a Suffering Animal. Make your voice heard in Columbus!
PUSH FOR MANDATORY SPAY-NEUTER LAWS IN OHIO!!!
SPEAK OUT AGAINST PUPPY MILLS and those they supply:
The Uneducated General Public, Dog Brokers and Pet Stores that sell Dogs!

It is time for No Kill States and a No Kill Nation. Dog/Cat Pounds are not the only ones that implement euthanasia for companion animals. Do you know if your favorite shelter/rescue has a true No Kill policy?

Do they state they are No Kill but euthanize healthy animals for space, illness, temperament, or treatable conditions that they do not want to fund or take the time needed for rehabilitation?

Everyday companion animals are killed because they are not easy placers. Abused, neglected, non socialized dogs are killed because they have been unfairly subject to the in vogue "temperament testing" that has become so popular. Temperament issues whether acute or chronic in nature need only time, understanding, love and a responsible human being to correct. Animals with health issues are killed because they cost too much money and time to save. Just think for a moment if Humans were "Temperament Tested" I would venture to say that only the "Testers" would be left alive.

Its time for Mercy in America. Support and Push for NO KILL...it is a movement taking root. Do you know that thousands of "Treatable" Companion Animals in Pounds/Humane Societies/Shelters & Rescues are killed everyday simply because they "look sick" or have diarrhea. Yes, diarrhea is a symptom of Parvo,a life threatening but treatable disease but most often it is caused by the sudden change of diet, fear, stress or an easily treatable virus or parasite. Why then are all these unnecessary deaths? Because Pounds/Humane Societies/Shelters/Rescues do not have the needed funds to pay the high costs of veterinarian services to verify the causes and treat the problems. They have no "treatable funds" for those in their care. America is in trouble. Good intentioned Americans are asked to send their money to all parts of the world to help everyone but their own. We have grave Human, Companion Animal, Wildlife and Environmental issues our very life force of clean air, water and soil where we are failing miserably in America. Isn't it time to take care of our Own Country, our Own People, our Own Animals, our Own Environment? What country has ever come to our aid? Next time you are in a giving mood why not keep your generosity at home. Give to an American cause there are tens of thousands to choose from.

OUR WISH LIST...THAT EVERY DOG HAD A LOVING HOME OF THEIR OWN.
But till that time comes
Would you consider helping us help them?

A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR OF INDIAN SUMMERS BORDER COLLIE RESCUE
BULLETIN BOARD

I would like to thank all of our adopting families for choosing Indian Summers Rescue for their new family member. And to all our returning adopters who came back to add another fur child to their family.

A huge thanks to all those that donated needed items and their time and efforts to put a wag in the tail of a rescued dog as they learn to trust again.

HIGH FIVES AND TAIL WAGS OF THANKS GOES OUT TO THE PEDIGREE FOUNDATION FOR GRANT MONEY USED FOR NEEDED MEDICAL SUPPLIES FOR OUR HOSPICE SHELTER DOGS.

To all the pound volunteers, the pullers, transporters, cross posters and all that care, without whom many dogs would never have been saved in time. So many hands reach out and are needed to save each one.

And to all of you a personal Thank You
and a Blessing for a long and fruitful life with much joy.

God Bless.
Dr. Victoria Summers, PhD, ND
