It is time for No Kill States and a No Kill Nation. Dog/Cat Pounds are not the only ones that implement euthanasia for companion animals. Do you know if your favorite shelter/rescue has a true No Kill policy?
Do they state they are No Kill but euthanize healthy animals for space, illness, temperament, or treatable conditions that they do not want to fund or take the time needed for rehabilitation?
Everyday companion animals are killed because they are not easy placers. Abused, neglected, non socialized dogs are killed because they have been unfairly subject to the in vogue "temperament testing" that has become so popular. Temperament issues whether acute or chronic in nature need only time, understanding, love and a responsible human being to correct. Animals with health issues are killed because they cost too much money and time to save. Just think for a moment if Humans were "Temperament Tested" I would venture to say that only the "Testers" would be left alive.
Its time for Mercy in America. Support and Push for NO KILL...it is a movement taking root. Do you know that thousands of "Treatable" Companion Animals in Pounds/Humane Societies/Shelters & Rescues are killed everyday simply because they "look sick" or have diarrhea. Yes, diarrhea is a symptom of Parvo,a life threatening but treatable disease but most often it is caused by the sudden change of diet, fear, stress or an easily treatable virus or parasite. Why then are all these unnecessary deaths? Because Pounds/Humane Societies/Shelters/Rescues do not have the needed funds to pay the high costs of veterinarian services to verify the causes and treat the problems. They have no "treatable funds" for those in their care. America is in trouble. Good intentioned Americans are asked to send their money to all parts of the world to help everyone but their own. We have grave Human, Companion Animal, Wildlife and Environmental issues our very life force of clean air, water and soil where we are failing miserably in America. Isn't it time to take care of our Own Country, our Own People, our Own Animals, our Own Environment? What country has ever come to our aid? Next time you are in a giving mood why not keep your generosity at home. Give to an American cause there are tens of thousands to choose from. |
