Brewster is such a looker and a happy guy with a zest for life who seems to have it all - atheletic, intelligent, playful ... but don't let all of that fool ya; check out the last picture of the big cuddle bug, he knows how to relax too. Brewster loves being with people whether it's playing fetch, working obedience, going for walks, car rides, to the nursing home or just cuddling on the couch watching a movie.

Brewster enjoys playing with other dogs and respects females in the group. He is crate trained, house broken and knows basic obedience such as "Sit", "Down", "Stay" and "Shake".

Brewster is about 1 & 1/2 - 2 years old. He is about 21 inches at the shoulders and weighs around 60lbs.

FOSTER TO ADOPT!

Take 2 Rescue's new Foster To Adopt program may be just what you are looking for!

In an effort to increase adoptions and ensure the dog you are interested in is just the right fit for you, the Foster To Adopt Program allows fully approved adopters to have a glimpse of life with what could be their new companion. Those interested in the program will go through the regular application approval process. Once approved, the potential adopter may take home the dog they are interested in for 2 weeks for a $25 non-refundable donation. After the 2 week period, should you want to adopt the dog, the $25 donation will be applied to the dog's adoption fee. Otherwise, the dog is returned to Take 2 Rescue and you can feel good knowing you have helped with the dog's vet and care expenses.

Unlike our regular adoptions, the Foster To Adopt program is only opened to families within a 3 hour drive of Take 2 Rescue.

Who We Are

Take 2 Rescue is a small home based all breed rescue dedicated to giving unwanted, abandoned animals a second take on life. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which means adoption fees and any other donations are completely tax deductible! Our rescued animals are fully vetted prior to adoption.

This includes the following care :
All of our pets are seen by a licensed vet at least once. All pets are crate trained, house broken, and taught some basic manors (sit, no begging for food or jumping on furniture, etc) - (puppies at least get started working on it!)

TAKE 2 RESCUE PETS ARE NOW MICROCHIPPED!!
Microchipping, when combined with a visible ID tag on a pet's collar creates the most reliable system to recover a lost pet. The implanted microchip is a safe and permanent form of identification for your pet which will greatly increase the chance that your pet will be returned to you should he/she become lost. Microchipping of companion animals is supported by the ASPCA.

The microchip is about the size of a large grain of rice and is implanted between the shoulder blades of the pet. Each chip has a unique identification code that can be read with a scanner available at animal shelters and vet clinics. In addition, each microchipped pet will have an ID tag to be placed on the animals collar to let everyone know that the pet is microchipped.

Once you've adopted a pet, you will need to register the microchip at www.24petwatch.com - this service is free of charge forever, and has some nice perks such as your own online photo gallery, free monthly newsletters and a kid's area just to name a few.

We are working on our kennel facility and are currently looking for foster homes!

Fostering

All of our pets will complete their vetwork (unless special needs or ongoing treatment) before being placed in a foster home. All we ask of our fosters is to provide food and love. We will supply food bowls, collar, leash and any other neccessities.

If you are interested in fostering, please fill out the adoption application and indicate you'd like to foster! Feel free to select who you would like to foster or what breeds, sizes, ages, etc would be a good fit for you to foster.

Adopting a friend

Thank you for adopting a homeless pet! Anytime one pet is adopted from us, it opens up a place for us to save another.

The first step in our adoption process is to submit an adoption application by filling out our online form - Adoption Application Please be honest in your answers to help ensure the adoption is a good fit for both the pet AND for you.

Once your application is reviewed and approved, we will set up a home visit from us and the pet you are interested in. This will give you and the dog you're interested in a chance to interact in your environment, with the rest of the family, any other pets, etc.

Lastly, there is an adoption contract to be completed. This basically says that you will properly care for and love your new pet and that if for any reason there comes a time when you can no longer keep it, it will be returned to Take 2 Rescue. We don't want to see any of our babies ever in a kill shelter again.

The adoption fee is $200. The fees are strictly to help with vet expenses incured for taking care of the animals.

In Memorium

Jacob was a purebred English Redtick Coonhound about 5 years old. A typical coonhound, Jacob was friendly, sweet, and always in good spirits. When Jacob was rescued, he was a good 25 pounds underweight and we thought he would just have a bad case of internal parasites and that he'd be healthy and ready for his new home in a couple of months. Unfortunately, Jacob didn't have the type of parasites we had thought. Instead, Jacob was diagnosed with a fairly advanced stage of heartworm disease.

Jacob would only be able to receive the intense heartworm treatment in 2 halves. Instead of having 2 days of 2 shots to the spine/muscle area, he would have 1 day, then wait 30 days and then the full treatment of 2 days.

After Jacob's first treatment, he came home with a great apetite and as always a great attitude. However, about a week after the treatment, he stopped eating. He went back to the vet where he was hospitalized and given medicine. Unfortunately, his heart had too much damage and after about 24 hours at the vet, it just gave out. Jacob died naturally, hopefully in his sleep on Good Friday 2005.

Even the vets commented on how happy Jacob was - always, always wagging his tail.

Seven dollars a month from Jacob's previous owner could have prevented this poor boys fate. If anyone ever wonder's how important the heartworm preventative pill is to give to a dog once a month, just look into Jacob's eyes and ask him.

Jacob, seccumbed to heartworm disease 3-25-2005
