Who We Are And What We Do
We are a 501c3 rescue that wants to save as many adoptable puppies as possible, proactively.
Most of our puppies come from Amish, Farmers, and other families that have not gotten their pets spay/neutered. The dogs are often used for hunting and herding. Many of the people still hold to the idea that spay/neuter takes the "work" out of the dog, others avoid it for religious reasons. We also get a small percentage of our dogs from "Puppy Mills". As people become more aware of "Puppy Mills", they are starting not to buy from the pet stores. This causes the brokers to back out of buying the "Mill" puppies. Often the breeders are stuck with the puppies, so they call us. When they start to surrender the puppies to rescues they lose money causing them to close down their operations. The Humane Societies in our area are not large enough to handle the volume of dogs.
Our goal is to find these puppies before they go to the pounds and other facilities, or before they are "Taken Care Of" in other ways. In doing this, we hope to alleviate the pressure on the Humane Societies and Pounds as well as help spread the word on Spay/Neuter. Often we are able to convince them to get the mother spayed and we pay for it with money generated from our adoption fees.
