| We use Patented Kuranda Dog Beds because they are durable, chew proof and easy to clean. If you would like to donate a bed to us, click here. |
Thanks to the Tolar family for donating a Kuranda bed! The dogs love it!!

Thinking of adopting a dog? Please watch this video and consider the responsibility that a dog takes. Consider everything before taking in a dog. A dog isn't a fad - it's a lifetime!
We are no longer accepting any dogs as we have to take a break from rescue. Please DO NOT contact us asking us to take in a dog. If you have a dog to surrender please go to columbusdogconnection.com to get a list of breed rescues and rescues in your area. Thank you!
We do not have a shelter! The rescue is at our residence so you must set up an appointment to view the dogs. Please do NOT call us when you are on your way to 'look' at what we have available. Thank you!
We have been focusing on getting some dogs moved out of the OH kill shelters into other rescues/no kill shelters. If you would like to help by fostering, temp fostering, sponsoring, transporting, or just spreading the word please join our yahoo group:

Wanting to surrender your pet? Is it due to a behavioral problem or an issue that can probably be fixed? Contact us for some suggestions. Maybe you haven't tried some methods that may help the situation. Six million dogs are euthanized in the United States each year - don't let your dog become one of those numbers. Let us help you keep your pet.
Some ideas:
1. A tired dog is a good dog - exercise your dog in the morning before work, when you get home and once before bed by taking it for a walk or to a dog park to play with other dogs. On your lunch break, come home and play fetch with him/her.
2. Obedience Classes - Try teaching your dog commands either by yourself or through obedience classes. Use positive reinforcement through treats, petting, and/or toys. Before you feed your dog make him/her sit for the food - make him 'work' for everything. If he wants you to throw the ball, ask him to speak first. This one on one time that you devote to teaching tricks is also helping you bond with your dog.
Don't have time for these two suggestions - then maybe a dog isn't right for you and your family. Consider a fish or a cat instead (although cats should always live in pairs so they won't be lonely).

Looking for the right dog for your family? Please go to Mingle with the Mutts at Franklin County dog pound the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month!!
There's No Place Like Home Dog Rescue is a private rescue that is run from my home. I pull dogs from shelters or bad situations and they live with us, as a part of our family, until they find their forever home. *I'm sorry but we do NOT accept owner surrenders!!** All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heart worm tested, and microchipped (which stays in the rescue's name for life). At this time, we are no longer taking in any dogs but concentrating on adopting out the dogs that we have available for adoption!
Online Application must be filled out and references are checked. A home visit is conducted and an adoption donation is asked of each adopter.
We are in need of foster homes. Would you like to have a dog but don't want to commit for 10 to 20 years, then why not foster? Fostering is a great way to give you a chance to see if you and your family are really ready for a dog to call your own. It also lets you see different kinds of dogs and breeds and see what fits well with you and your family! For more information, email us
1. Foster a Dog: The more foster homes that we have the more dogs we can help!! Fostering means that you keep a dog in your home until we find him/her a forever home of their own. The rescue takes care of all medical care and food - we can even provide a crate. All you do is give the dog lots of exercise, love, and some boundaries. Extra attention in the form of obedience training is greatly appreciated but not required. Getting a dog into a foster home also gives us an opportunity to get to know the dog better so that we can fit him/her in the very best home possible.
2. Sponsor a Dog: You can sponsor a dog for $10 a month. That's only the cost of two meals from a fast food restaurant! When you sponsor a dog, we can email/mail you pictures and video of the dog you are sponsoring. You're welcome to come visit the dog - play with them, give them a bath, take them for a walk, take him/her to obedience class. Some of our longterm fosters really love the extra attention from others!! To sponsor a dog, click on the donate button below and make a note which dog your monetary donation is for.
3. Spay/Neuter Your Pets: Many dogs die every year in animal shelters due to the pet overpopulation problem. PLEASE spay and neuter your own pets. Okay maybe you think since your dog is ALWAYS with you and ALWAYS inside that it's okay not to get them speutered. What if your dog gets loose when you have someone watching the dog or what if someone breaks in and the dog gets loose. Many different things can happen. Or you want your kids to see the 'miracle' of birth. If you believe that letting your children see the miracle of birth, you should take them to the shelter and let them see the horrible death. It's harsh to say but it's reality! Oh your puppies won't take homes away from the homeless because you already have homes lined up? Well those homes that are getting YOUR puppies could have rescued the puppies that are sitting in the shelter - not even knowing that they may get the gas chamber.
4. Volunteer at Adoption Events: We always need dog handlers to hold dogs for us at the adoption events. We have many dogs here available for adoption and we only have so many hands. The most important event is Mingle with the Mutts held the first and third Sundays of each month from 12 pm - 2 pm at the Franklin County Dog Shelter.
5. Monetary Donations for different funds: We have many different funds at the moment. We also have a vet fund in case we take in a special needs dog that needs more medical attention than normal, which happens a lot. We also set up transports for dogs coming from the shelter and going to other rescues - we help these dogs get out and get somewhere where they won't face euth! As we all know gas prices are high and we need all the help we can get!
6. Supplies: There's No Place Like Home can always use towels, blankets, leashes, dog crates, collars, bowls, paper towels, and any dog supplies. Some dog supplies are food (such as Canidae, Chicken Soup for Dog Lover's Soul), interceptor (for monthly heartworm preventative, revolution (for fleas).
7. Come Meet the Dogs: We can always use helpers here at the rescue! The dogs love seeing and meeting new people. We need volunteers to come play with the dogs, walk them, and give them a bath. We're located on 8 acres in beautiful Hocking Hills Region - we are minutes from hiking trails. Come take a small vacation and take one of our fosters with you!
8. Become a Transporter: We always have dogs coming and going whether it's to vet appointments, other rescue groups, foster homes, or adoption events. We need volunteers to drive the dogs where they need to go. Some of these dogs come straight from the shelter. In those cases, we have arranged for a rescue to get them out of a high kill shelter but we have agreed to transport the dog for them. That's where we need volunteers like YOU!!
