Dogs #0730 and #1009
"Hi! My name is ERIN (left) and this is a buddy of mine BILLY (right). We are a couple of furbabies that have kinda been forgotten about here at the dog pound. The girls here don't understand why because we are amazing kids. Well actually in my story I was forgotten about a long time ago. I have been running around in the same neighborhood for all of my life, getting chased out of one yard or another all the time. But I am a survivor and made it through. I also had a little buddy, Eric who joined up with me at some point in time (he's still here too by the way). But for the last 2 years I have been running around and people were never nice to me so I am absolutely terrified of people. I know I have a big heart and I know I would like to be in a home with an actual family, I just don't know how to be. The girls here have been working with me since I got here, when I first came in they couldn't even touch me without me getting this pained look in my eyes and flinching, so they're really holding out hope that there's someone out there willing to take me on, to work with me and love me, and teach me that life can be good. I am really coming along, I am really attached to my friend Eric but I am actually starting to play just a little bit with people as of lately. I started jumping around and barking and bowing before I even knew what I was doing, it kinda threw me off a little bit! So I really can be turned around with just some time and patience, so please somebody out there, come and meet me and see what you think, I'm kinda getting close to wearing out my timeshare here, a nice comfy blanket on a couch would be great for these cold winter nights. But enough about my silly old story, let's move on to this Billy I mentioned earlier, he's a pretty great guy himself! Hello! My name is BILLY. I am about a year old and about 55 pounds. I am a very happy sweet boy here that is so very deserving of a new home. I was just a stray that nobody wanted until I found some people that I became very fond of. However the family that wanted me and that I had wanted to keep, turned around and decided that they didn't want me after all because they said I went crazy and pooped on the floor and was acting funny one night and since the girls couldn't come right over to pick me up they wanted me put to sleep, well when they took me into a vet to do so the vet refused to since I was a very healthy happy strong boy. My only problem was that I had what was called entropian eyelids. But the nice girls here at the adoption center raised the money up and had my eyes all surgically taken care of so I will have no more problems with that ever again. So now I just need a new home where my eyes can heal up and maybe even my heart, since the people that were in it decided to crush it before they dumped me off. I am doing so good here and meeting all kinds of new friends. I do however prefer the ladies, I get a little huffy with the other guys I have met, but I can tear up the turf playing with my female friends. I am a huge people type of dog. I love to cuddle and rub all over you, the closer I am to you the happier I am. I love kids too, I am a great family boy, I'm just missing that family in my life. And I know that Erin deserves that second chance that everyone around here keeps talking about. There's gotta be a forever home out there for us too. There's so many good friends here that are still waiting. We love getting visitors too, cuz we know that chances are when there's visitors, somebody is going to get to go home to a family that night, what a happy feeling that is! So thank you very much for listening to us and we hope to see you real soon!"

Please tell people that you know that when they've lost a dog to check our site! Pictures are posted as soon as possible under the "Click here to see our adoptable dogs list". According to Ohio Revised Code, the dog pound must observe this stray hold in order to give the owner a chance to locate their dog. We ARE NOT able to adopt any dog early! After this hold period, the dogs may be adopted to new homes. PS-an ad in the newspaper may also help. Some people are reluctant to surrender a stray that they find to the dog pound. If they see an ad or a flyer, they are able to contact you.

Who We Are

We are an animal control facility. We are a rural county with a very common overpopulation problem. In 2004 our commissioners and Angels for Animals entered into a contract that makes spay/neutering dogs from the pound manditory in an attempt to educate and provide pets at a reasonable cost. This program and the Petfinder's site have resulted in a successful adoption program. We still average more dogs than pens each week, but we are finding some terrific homes and meeting some incredible people!
Donate a BedWe use Patented Kuranda Dog Beds because they are durable, chew proof and easy to clean. We now have beds for 23 of our 28 pens. If you would like to donate a bed to us, click here.

Adopting a Dog

If you find a dog that you are interested in adopting, please call the dog pound at 330-424-6663 ext. 1757 or email. We will be happy to explain our simple adoption procedure and tell you what we can about the dogs. All dogs are spayed/neutered and given a rabies and a 7 way vaccination before leaving. Trips for vet work are scheduled each Tuesday and Friday morning and you can pick up your new pet between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm the same day. THE ADOPTION FEE IS $100.00 PER DOG. EFFECTIVE APRIL 1, 2009. This includes an Ohio dog license. There are additional services offered upon request such as heartworm test, flea and tick prevention, bordatella vaccination, ect. Payment must be received before the dog can be scheduled for vet work. Often this means overnight a Money Order or Cashier's check if you are not close enough to the pound to stop in or you may stopo in and pay with CASH.
