Our Featured Pet...

Skye - Am am a cute as a button 1.5 year old whippet mix who is just ready and waiting for the right person to snap me up! I weigh 32 pounds and am full grown - perfect small/medium size! I am sweet as can be though a little unsure in brand new surroundings - it takes me about two seconds before you are my best friend for life! Typical whippet! I am lean and sleek and oh so gorgeous - I would probably be a great agility dog truth be told - fast and agile - a true athlete. If you are a jogger I might just be the perfect partner for you! I would also be just as content being your baby and after a lovely walk would adore just sitting on the couch with you loving you up! I ride well in the car, get along well with other dogs of all sizes but perhaps would be a little too whippet like with cats so a feline free home would likely be best. Small kids may prove to be a bit too rambunctious for me, but older children would be fine - probably 9 and up would be no problem. It isn't that I don't like them but let's face it, kids can be a little crazy! I am currently enrolled in the Prison Obedience Program where I am being house trained, crate trained and where I am learning all the skills I will need to be a Canine Good Citizen like walking nicely on a loose lead, sit, stay, down, coming when called, politely greeting new people and new dogs, how to patiently be groomed, how to walk through a crowd and how to work with distractions all around. I am a good girl - incredibly smart and quick to learn, very loyal and lovey dovey (I really prefer to sit in your lap if you would let me!), and ever so sweet to be around. If you want a smallish girl with an easy to care for head of hair and a spectacular athletic build than look no further - I'm the one!

Who We Are

W.A.G.S Canine Rescue is a five-year-old organization dedicated to rescuing and rehoming canines in need. All of our dogs and puppies are up to date with vaccinations, heartworm negative and on preventative, completely dewormed as well as spayed and neutered. All canines are evaluated for temperament and to ascertain the type of home that they would do best in. Our goal is to match the right canine with the right family and to work with potential adoptors to reach that goal. We are a small intimate group of knowledgeable "dog people" who are intent upon educating the public regarding spaying and neutering, proper vet care and positive training as well as behavior counseling. We take in stray and homeless animals as well as those who have owners but through a twist of fate find themselves looking for a new placement. We also wish to help the plight of dogs that find themselves facing death row in animal control facilities because they had nowhere else to go. W.A.G.S. also offers problem solving to animal guardians who may have nowhere else to turn by offering suggestions or referring you to someone who may be able to help. We want to be there for any and all dogs that may need us in whatever capacity. We are generously supported by Purina Pro Plan's Rally to Rescue Organization www.rallytorescue.org. WAGS has received their not for profit 501(c)(3) status. All donations are tax deductible !

Adopting a friend

If you are interested in adopting one of our canines or in any information at all please email us at wagsresq@yahoo.com or call 330-793-9544 and we will get back to you as soon as possible (there are only a few of us, and we work too) in order to facilitate your search for the perfect companion or to simply answer your questions. Interested parties will be sent an application for adoption which can be promptly emailed back to us. There is never any guarantee as to adoption regarding any dog in our program but we will do our best to find the right dog for you! Our adoption fee is $150 and includes: all vaccinations (1 year rabies, DHLP-P); deworming; one month flea control; heartworm test and preventative; spay or neuter; bath; ear cleaning; nail trimming; temperament evaluation. We also have a life-long right of return and a trial period to make certain that everything works out as well as we all hope that it will.

Come Visit Us!

We currently do not have a shelter but rather foster the dogs and puppies in our homes so that we may know them and their needs better. We will have adoption fairs on certain days to be determined and will contact interested parties when a dog that they are interested in will be available for adoption.
DUE TO A LACK OF VOLUNTEERS, PLEASE CALL US TO VERIFY DATES AND TIMES TO VIEW DOGS AT THE PETSMART located at 1101 Doral Dr. in Poland OH (330-793-9544) OR EMAIL (wagsresq@yahoo.com). WE WILL BE HAPPY TO SET UP A TIME THAT IS CONVENIENT FOR ALL.
WE ARE IN DESPERATE NEED OF VOLUNTEERS AND FOSTER HOMES. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN EITHER, OR WOULD LIKE TO DONATE ITEMS OR SERVICES FOR OUR FUNDRAISING RAFFLE BASKETS, PLEASE CONTACT US AT THE ABOVE MENTIONED NUMBER AND/OR EMAIL ADDRESS.
If you don't see the next love of your life on our page, please consider looking at the Columbiana County Dog Pound and Adoption Center's dogs. They have wonderful dogs, and are very truthful about the dogs and their temperament, habits, etc. We have pulled many dogs from there and highly recommend adopting from them if you don't adopt from us!
