Pike Pet Pals
Helping to Save Dogs at the Pike County Dog Pound

Pike Pet Pals is an all volunteer organization devoted to aiding dogs at the pound and providing rescue and adoption services. Volunteers have no official capacity and do not manage the facility. We function with the permission of the county commissioners and the Pike County Sheriff. ALL CALLS REGARDING STRAY DOGS SHOULD BE MADE TO THE DOG WARDEN AT 740-947-5996
PLEASE HELP!! Colt is a people friendly dog who loves to play! Come to the pound and check him out! Donations to help Pike Pound Dogs get vaccinations, veterinary care, emergency boarding and transport as well as funds to help sponsor Spay/Neuter Clinics may be sent to: Pike Pet Pals, Inc., P.O. Box 1239, Waverly, OH 45690, or you may click the donate button. Donations are tax-deductible.

For information about dogs or puppies or in order to adopt or rescue them, you may contact Volunteer WAYNE at: zebraswd@yahoo.com. THERE IS NO "PULL FEE" FOR APPROVED RESCUES.

ADOPTION FEES ARE $28.00 PER DOG/PUPPY, higher for a fully vetted animal. This includes a dog license for Pike County residents. Exact cash only. The dog pound does not accept checks, credit cards or debit cards.

PUPPIES ARE AVAILABLE TO APPROVED RESCUES AT ANY TIME. Our funding for veterinary care is limited but we make every effort to send healthy dogs and pups on Rescue transports. We highly recommend taking your rescued/adopted dog or puppy to your veterinarian as soon as possible after rescue/adoption as we often do not know their health backgrounds.

Rescues: If you require veterinary services before transport, this can be arranged through our veterinarians. We recommend contacting Chillicothe Animal Clinic at 740-773-4133 or Shawnee Animal Clinic at 740-353-5758. For more information about this service, you may contact Volunteer Wayne at: zebraswd@yahoo.com.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

SPAY or NEUTER your pets. Every year HUNDREDS of unwanted puppies come into the Pound because dogs were not spayed or neutered. This is the NUMBER ONE way you can help! Spayed or neutered dogs stay healthier, have better temperaments and tend not to wander away.

LICENSING your dog helps us find YOU if your dog is lost or stolen. Licenses may be purchased at the Pike County Dog Pound or the Pike County Auditor's Office.

PLEASE ADOPT OR RESCUE from the Pike County Dog Pound. We have many puppies and dogs coming in every day. We are a small, rural pound with very limited space. All of these wonderful dogs and puppies are in need of new homes or rescues as soon as possible. We try our best to hold dogs for as long as possible and make every attempt to place dogs and puppies into loving homes or rescues. We are very adopter and rescue friendly. Please contact volunteer Wayne at zebraswd@yahoo.com.

THANK YOU TO OUR FRIENDS AND DONORS

We would like to thank Fastenal and Whitt's Feed and Supply for their support. Their donations will help with improvements at the pound. It's wonderful to have such a supportive community working with us.

Adopting a Dog from the Pike County Dog Pound

  1. Adoption fee is $28 cash. This fee includes an Ohio dog tag.
  2. Bring a dog collar and leash for your new dog.
  3. The dog may be dirty from being in a kennel. We currently do not have the ability to bathe the dog before leaving. We suggest that you bring an old blanket to protect your car.
  4. The pound can not guarantee the temperament or health of the dogs or puppies housed at the pound. We strongly recommend taking your new dog to your vet as soon as possible.
