The Cat Welfare Association was founded in 1945 by a small
group of people who saw the need for an organization designed specifically to help the
many stray and abused cats in the Columbus area. We are a non-profit organization that's
objective has always been to promote better care and understanding of cats while providing
for the physical welfare of homeless cats and kittens.
The cats taken into our care are strays and frequently have
been abused or injured. We give them plenty of tender loving care along with any necessary
medical treatment they might need. Our shelter provides a home for these cats and kittens
until they are adopted-- whether it be for a short time or if they live out the rest of
their lives in our shelter.
Adopting a friend
Cat Welfare is home to over 200 cats and kittens. Cats and kittens may be adopted for a fee of $80
This covers vaccinations, de-worming, feline leukemia testing, FIV testing (of adult
cats), and spaying/neutering. All adult cats are spayed/neutered before they are adopted
out, while arrangements for the future altering of kittens must be made at the time of
adoption. We offer a 10 day return policy, but we will always take back our cats if for
some reason the adoptive parent can no longer care for them. We are open daily from 11:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. We are also open Tuesday and Wednesday evenings until 7:00 p.m. We are closed the first Thursday of every month. We are also closed all major holidays.
Come Visit Us!
In 1999, Cat Welfare moved to a newly renovated facility. The building
provides over 5,600 square feet of space. Dedicated in-take, exam, isolation, and recovery
rooms and separate ventilation systems enable us to more effectively isolate and treat
those animals requiring medical attention. Our new shelter also has a play room for
kittens and a large adoptable cats room that is full of comfy beds, cat trees, and perches
for our floor cats to enjoy. The building also houses our weekly Saturday garage sale fund
raiser and has increased storage space for food, litter, & shelter supplies.
