Making a Difference...One Life at a Time!

MHAF is a small but growing group of volunteers working for the betterment of animals.

We find homes for homeless animals; work with owners to keep pets in homes, and improve the relationship between owners and animals.

We are entirely funded by adoption fees, donations, and fundraisers! MHAF receives NO funding or support from the City!

Donate to the Death Row Rescue Fund

By donating towards the rescue of a dog from death row, you are doing more than just making a monetary donation you are giving a dog a second chance at life!

Each time MHAF rescues a dog from a kill-shelter we have to pay a pull-fee; this is a fee that a pound charges in order for us to save the dog, which can range from $30 to $60. Then in addition to the pull-fee we must provide medical care, pay for boarding and supply everyday care; these expenses add up!

However, you can help make a difference in the volume of live saving work we can do! Donate to the Death Row Rescue Fund; each donation will go directly to rescuing dogs from death row and transporting them to a safe haven with MHAF.

Each person that donates towards this fund will have their name included with the dogs’ description so that everyone knows you are an animal lover and rescue supporter.

Why is adopting from US better?!

A temperament test is given to all canines over 6 months of age. This test helps determine what type of training or behavior modification program the dog will need. It also reveals signs of dominance a dog may have and issues in certain situations.

All of our animals receive the necessary vaccinations and tests.

Some of our animals are cared for in foster homes. By doing this we are able to tell you if a dog is house trained, crate trained and what house manners they know. Along with this they receive socialization and obedience training daily. For cats, we are able to tell you what their habits are, social levels and personalities.

We work to prepare each animal for life in a home! Post-adoption support!

Our work doesn’t end when the adoption papers are signed. Our volunteers will field your questions and concerns; if necessary we will refer you to a Trainer or Behavior Consultant for additional help.
