About Us

News

CHA Animal Shelter is a volunteer, nonprofit animal shelter dedicated to finding homes for homeless cats and dogs with responsible individuals. We rely on our volunteers for their talent and generosity of their time to accomplish this goal.

In-shelter work

We are currently looking for volunteers who can:

Fundraising

  • Plan and participate in fundraising functions
  • Contact businesses for donations of items or services
  • Spread the word to the public about our fundraising events!

Office work

  • Answer phones
  • Perform adoption follow-ups
  • Filing and paperwork
  • Help with special events at the shelter

Fostering

CHA Animal Shelter has a foster program that allows our volunteers to house animals with special needs on a temporary basis in their homes. This program allows CHA pets to recover from medical conditions, grow to a healthy and adoptable age, or just get relief from the stress of the shelter in a caring environment. Volunteering at CHA is a prerequisite to becoming a foster care provider.

  • Give CHA Animal Shelter pets extra attention, love, and all the comforts of home by welcoming a CHA animal into your home!
  • Create a win-win situation for both the animal and you!
  • For our foster application, click here! Email your completed application to Stephanie@CHAAnimalShelter.org

To become a CHA volunteer:

  1. Volunteers must be at least 14 years old to work in the shelter.
  2. Volunteers between the ages of 14 and 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is also a volunteer.
  3. Persons from 16 to 18 years of age may volunteer independently with signed consent of a parent or guardian.
  4. Adult volunteers are requested to not bring their young or
non-volunteering children with them to the shelter when they are working.
  5. CHA does not honor court mandated volunteering.

Interested parties must participate in a Volunteer Orientation prior to beginning volunteer shifts. Orientations are held on Wednesday evenings at

6pm.
