Coming Events! Our Adoptable Pets Message from the President Our Happy Tails!

Educate, promote animal welfare and prevent animal suffering—this is the purpose of the Humane Society of Morrow County and in 2008 we were successful! With a declining economy and foreclosures at an all-time high, the HSofMC was facing some of its biggest challenges. The foreclosure crisis caused many homeowners to leave their pets behind. A few were fortunate and were taken to either the HSofMC or the Morrow County Dog Shelter and rehomed to other loving families. The remainder were simply abandoned by their former owners and left to fend for themselves. HSofMC volunteers intervened to help some of these abandoned pets.
In 2008 the HSofMC educated many pet owners on proper animal care and helped those less fortunate feed and properly care for their pets. HSofMC held two low-cost rabies clinics and spayed or neutered over 150 cats and dogs at low cost or no cost to pet owners. HSofMC also distributed thousands of pounds of dog and cat food to those in need or those managing large feral cat colonies. Volunteers also helped many animals which were victims of cruelty or neglect.
Through generous donations, grants and membership dues from people like you and me, we are able to continue doing what we do each and every day. A small team of dedicated board members and volunteers keeps this organization running smoothly with this purpose in mind – educate, promote animal welfare and prevent animal suffering.

Tid Bits…
Wow! – 2008 was a busy year for the Intake and Adoption/Fostering Coordinators of the HSofMC. We placed under our care: 69 puppies/dogs; 9 kittens/cats and 3 horses. We successfully re-homed 67 puppies/dogs and 6 kittens/cats! We are very grateful to our foster homes for providing such good care of them all. We thank you and so do all the animals! The HSofMC strives to match potential adopters with our animals. We have a very comprehensive adoption process and very frequently receive e-mails and pictures of those who have been adopted! We are always pleased to receive them! Waggin’ Tails and Purrfect journeys! Read more on our web site at www.hsofmc.org. Remember, when you adopt, you save the lives of two, the one you adopted and the one who takes its place!
New web site released! A new version of HSofMC web site has been released! We have added many new features and although there are several pages still under construction, we are working daily to complete our web site. A potential adopter can complete an adoption application on-line which will be sent to the Adoption and Fostering Coordinator by the click of a button. Visit our new web site at www.hsofmc.org. Suggestions and comments are welcomed! Please send Your suggestions and comments to:webmaster@hsofmc.org
