CARTWHEEL ľMany have you may have met or at least heard of Cartwheel over the past few months. He is a kitty that was abandoned and ignored until, fortunately, two RCAF volunteers were in the right place at the right time. When we found Cartwheel, he was super emaciated, dehydrated (his skin was like that of an elephant) and severely infested with fleas. He came up to us and just wanted attention. I firmly believe that he would have died had we not had found him that day. We took him to our vets immediately, where he stayed for several days under their careful watch on IV fluids. After months of TLC from his vet and foster, a dental (all teeth had to be removed), neuter, multiple blood tests and medications, Cartwheel has gained several pounds and is flourishing as a permanent foster with RCAF! Unfortunately, poor Cartwheel is FIV positive and severely diabetic. He visits his vet weekly due issues regarding his diabetes. Cartwheel is the sweetest and happiest guy around! He does not ask for much, just a pet on the head (and sometimes for some extra cat treats! He tries to steal the Bil Jac dog treats every time we visit his vet!). Please support RCAF so we can continue to care for special need animals like Cartwheel! Most rescues would have euthanized him, but with RCAF he received the treatment he deserved and is living a good life!
Sol ľSol is a gorgeous little calico kitten that you may have seen on our website over the summer. She was rescued by a RCAF volunteer who found her on a hot summer day totally emaciated and starving. Sol flourished in foster care, but despite antibiotics, constantly sounded congested. We took her to one of our vets for a second exam and he discovered that she had a nasal polyp. Fortunately, our vets were able to perform both her spay and polyp surgery at the same time. Despite her tough beginning, Solĺs story has a happy ending! Sol was adopted by a wonderful home and enjoys playing with her new kitty sister and doggie brother! Our adoption fees do not always equate to what we must do to prepare our kitties for adoption. Your donation enables RCAF to rescue sweet kitties like Sol that just needed some extra care prior to adoption.
We could write hundreds of stories similar to that of Cartwheel and Sol which RCAF has been part of over the past 11 years. Please open your hearts to the RCAF cats this Holiday Season. As much as we hate to ask for more support, as a lot of you do so much to help already, we are in desperate need of monetary donations. So far we have received $170 in donations for which we are absolutely grateful. Unfortunately we still have a long way to go in order to pay off our balance of $8,430.00 between vet bills ($8030) and veterinary supplies ($400). Our vets have been super kind and understanding, but we need to pay off our balance or we will no longer be able to receive veterinary services (our cap on services is $4000.). Due to a hectic year, low adoption rates, vet bills for returned cats, and unsuccessful fundraisers, we have not raised enough money to get under and stay under our $4000 cap.
In addition, our only fundraising event during the holiday season was cut. This year we will only be taking photos with Santa at Elyria PetSmart on December 7, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 4 p.m and at Great Northern PetSmart on December 14, 2013, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (we went from 8 six hour days of Santa Photos to one 6 hour day and one 2 and Ż hour day!).
*WE HAVE 800-plus CONTACTS IN OUR ADDRESS BOOK. IF EVERYONE SENT US AT LEAST $10, RCAF COULD PAY ITS BALANCE OFF!
Why is our bill so high? WE DO NOT EUTHANIZE KITTIES THAT SOME RESCUES MAY CONSIDER 'UNADOPTABLE". RCAF believes that EVERY CAT deserves a chance! No matter how long of a life they may have to live, we want to give them at least a fighting chance at a humane quality life. We routinely pay our vets as we go, but sometimes we cannot pay our entire bill at the time of service. We have a 100% return policy and always will take care of the cats in our care. We strive to get all our cats into a position were they can be adopted. This often requires vet care in excess of the adoption donation fee that we receive for the animal. (Who wants to pay a $300 adoption donation fee for a new kitty! We would never be able to adopt anyone out that way!) As you know, many of the kitties will never be "adoptable" due to terminal illness or behavioral issues. These kitties became permanent foster kitties of RCAF and stay with us for their entire lives.
Donations can be send to RCAF, P.O. Box 94143, Cleveland, OH 44101 or through PayPal by using our firstname.lastname@example.org as the payee.
*Please remember RCAF over the holiday season!
**A donation to the cats in someone else's name is also a great gift for those who have everything! :) We will send them a holiday card memorializing your donation! For any donation over $50 we will also send a dog calendar by artist Michael McCartney (while supplies last).

RCAF only has two adoption cages at Great Northern PetsMart, but enough kitties to fill them a few times over. Please do not let our babies grow up in foster care! Please consider adopting one of our kittens below so these kitties do not become adults in their foster homes. We have tons of older kittens! Please see the following and more! Gracey, Catnip, Misty, Clary, Vader, Iron Man, The Falcon, Suzie, Billy Idol, Sade, Haley, Costello, Abbott, Reba, Sebastian, Muni, Mr. Bean, Glitzy, Colt, Kolby, and many more!! We also have NUMEROUS adults. Some have been overlooked for years! Please email us so we can fit the right cat to your home. If you cannot adopt another kitty, please consider a monetary or food donation. Please also consider sponsoring a non-adoptable/permanent foster cat (i.e. FeLV cat, FIV cat, geriatric cat and/or disabled cat). All donations to RCAF are tax-deductible.
Many of you have heard about our little mascot Spirit. She has been with us for 4 years. Spirit was rescued by RCAF as a 7 week old kitten. Thanks to all of you who have sent donations as well as prayers and good thoughts to our Spirit! Our wonderful vet at Avon Lake Animal Clinic was successful in the repair of her hernia. Her liver and gall bladder had actually moved up into her pericardial sac, which made it hard for her to breathe (they were pressing on her heart) and would have ultimately killed her.
Thankfully she is recovering peacefully with her permanent foster - even though she'd love to run around like a maniac, she has to take it slow for now. She still has some minor issues, but we expect a full recovery! We will continue to take her in to our vet for monitoring and routine check-ups.
If it was not for support from all of you who donated, we would not have been able to help Spirit. We totally rely on support to help kitties like Spirit. As you are all aware, often times, the kitties we find are not "perfect" or "adoptable". Some of the cats that are returned after several years may now have issues that we must take care of. We receive only a very small percentage of our funds from adoptions. The greatest amount comes from private donations from you all and monies received from our fundraising events. We have many cats that have terminal health and/or behavioral issues that are living healthy comfortable lives as permanent fosters. They are the cats that other rescues kill. Please understand that when these cats have to go to the vet, it is not just a routine vet visit. They almost always require blood work and medicine, and may require certain types of testing and medical procedures. Any donation, however small, can literally help save a life! Please continue to help support the RCAF kitties like Spirit! Your tax deductible donation may be made via www.paypal.com to email@example.com or pay sending check or money order to RCAF, P.O. Box 94143, Cleveland, OH 44101.
Thank you from the bottom our little kitty hearts!
Please consider making a monthly donation to RCAF. We still have vet bill balances and unfortunately will accrue more bills for kitties during the upcoming year. We are fortunate to have two supporters who donate to us monthly via electronic fund transfers. Even a donation of $10 a month makes a huge difference to the cats - it could mean life or death!
Please send donations to RCAF at P.O. Box 94143, Cleveland, OH 44101 or through paypal to our firstname.lastname@example.org address. Your donation is tax-deductible.

***Please understand that RCAF is a no-kill rescue. When our foster cats encounter health issues, we must take care of them! When cats cannot be adopted due to health or behavioral issues, they become permanent foster cats with RCAF. Please consider donating to our cats that required extra care!! This little angel is one of the many RCAF permanent foster kitties. Now how could we say "no" to that sweet little face? Spirit came to us with many birth defects, including a massive hernia and a deformed leg. Thanks to our kind and wonderful vets, she survived an emergency surgery to repair her hernia. She was spayed and had a second surgery to complete the repair of her hernia. She has been thriving as a permanent foster kitty with RCAF for over three years. Please remember that the poor economy has hit the animals and rescue groups the hardest! If you'd like to help little Spirit and our effort to continue rescuing cats like her, please consider making a tax deductible donation to RCAF, which can be made by sending a check or money order to "Spirit", c/o RCAF, P.O. Box 94143, Cleveland, OH 44101 or by making a payment through our paypal link.
Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org all donations and specifically if you would like to donate dry cat food, canned cat food and/or cat litter.
OUR CATS NEED DENTALS!!!! Dental care is an ongoing need for rescue cats! Its a simple procedure that saves lives (lack of dental care can lead to infection and organ failure!!) We have multiple foster cats and permanent/terminally ill foster cats that are in desparate need of dental care! Dental cleanings with extractions cost just under $250 per cat. We fully vet all of our adoptable and permanent foster cats, so this is a necessary expense that the rescue never recoupes. Please help our cats -sponsor a kitty by donating money for dental care!!
* We are also always in need of monetary donations for newly rescued cats (spay/neuter, testing, vaccinations, parasite treatment, antibiotics, food. litter, etc!!) as well as for the ongoing maintenance and care of our cats in foster care! **Please remember all donations are tax deductible and can be sent to us at P.O. Box 94143, Cleveland, OH 44101 or via PayPal.

PLEASE VOTE FOR RAINBOW CONNECTION ANIMAL FOUNDATION (Cleveland, OH) DAILY! We are in the running for winning a grant for the kitties!
Who We Are
The Rainbow Connection Animal Foundation is a non-profit, no-kill, 100% volunteer animal rescue organization which rescues homeless, abandoned, and surrendered cats and kittens and ultimately places them in loving homes. We are also active in and practice Trap/Neuter/Release methods in order to maintain the feral and stray cat population. WE DO NOT HAVE A SHELTER. WE ARE A SERIES OF FOSTER HOMES.
All RCAF cats/kittens are tested for FIV/FeLV, wormed, and spayed/neuter. The animal is placed in foster care and observed and socialized as needed. Adoptions take place in private homes, PETsMART stores, internet rescue connections, and veterinary clinics.
RCAF relies on donations, adoption fees and volunteer support in order to operate and continue rescuing homeless and abandoned cats.
Adopting a friend
Each potential adoptive home is screened using a questionnaire and interviews. When adoption is approved, a representative of Rainbow Connection meets the adoptive parents and completes an adoption contract and medical record. Rainbow Connection has a 100% return policy which means in no uncertain terms, should the animal become ill, can no longer be cared for by the adopter or is simply no longer wanted, the animal is to be returned to Rainbow Connection. This ensures that this animal will never be homeless again in essence, Rainbow animals have a home forever.
ALL RAINBOW CATS/KITTENS ARE SPAYED OR NEUTERED PRIOR TO ADOPTION. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS.For more information on early spay/neuter, please refer to an article published by Alley Cat Allies.
WE HAVE A 100% RETURN POLICY FOR ALL OF OUR CATS FOR THEIR ENTIRE LIVES -PLEASE CONTACT US IMMEDIATELY IF YOU NEED TO RETURN OUR CAT(S)!!!
