We are still here, helping animals find new homes! A small, but dedicated group is still rescuing, comforting, adopting, and educating.

If you are interested in joining, please contact us at the email address below. We love making new people friends too!

Who We Are

The goal of South Summit is to rescue abandon, abused, and forgotten animals and place them in loving, forever homes.

Our organization does not have a shelter. We operate soley with the love of and dedication of foster homes. With kitten season coming soon, we will need foster homes to help us accept as many as possible. Please contact us if you would like more information to be part of a wonderful experience.

We are a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization. All donations go to the car of the animals we have rescued.

Adopting a friend

SSKPR carefully screens all potential homes to be certain that the animal they are interested in is appropriate for their home and lifestyle. The potential home completes a screen application and then a legally binding adoption contract. The adoption fee of $80.00 includes testing for FIV/Leukemia for cats, age appropriate vaccinations, worming and spay/neuter surgery. We reserve the right to decline to adopt an animal for any reason. All cats adopted are required to be “Inside Only”. Confining the animal to the inside of the owners residence is required for the safety and health of the animal.

Sometimes adoptions can be a spontaneous event. We do ask that an animal carrier be used to transport the new family member. There maybe one for purchase at a minimal fee for those ‘just can’t go home without’ animals!

Come Visit Us!

South Summit Kitten and Puppy Rescue is not a shelter and does not currently have a physical facility that can be visited. Instead all of our animals are kept in private foster homes where they are nurtured in a family environment. SSKPR conducts adoptions at Green Animal Medical Clinic and at PetsMart Chapel Hill located on Howe Road, next to Home Depot.

When we are at PetsMart, you will find us in the cat adoption area inside the store, which the management of the store has graciously made available for our use. Alternately animals may be seen by special appointment as time and scheduling permit.

2008 Calendar featuring your fur baby! For a donation of $7.50, you will receive an 8 x 10 2008 calendar with your pet's picture on it! There is a choice of backgrounds and you pick the picture! Contact us at southrescue@gmail.com for more information!
