Donations Happily Accepted
Your donations are welcome at the Franklin County Dog Shelter. We are not allotted money directly from your tax dollars. Our operating income is from the sale of dog tags, adoptions, redemptions, and donations. Our County Commissioners keep the Dog Shelter in operation with the extra funds we need to continue to serve the community.
We are always in need of newspapers, extra towels, blankets, pet carriers, and chewy toys for our animals or any other dog related items. When you clean out your closets and have some extra old towels and blankets, just drop them off at the Dog Shelter during the Shelter office hours.

Who We Are
The Department of Animal Care & Control provides compassionate care for impounded animals and is responsible for enforcement of canine laws in Franklin County.
The Dog Shelter provides cares for more than 13,000 impounded animals each year. Medical exams and treatments are provided by licensed veterinarians and veterinary technicians. Kennel attendants work around-the-clock to keep the dogs clean, fed and watered. The shelter accepts stray dogs 24-hours a day.
Adopting a new best friend
A wide variety of dogs and puppies of all breeds and sizes is available for adoption. Adoption fees are $117, and include all shots, spay or neuter surgery, heartworm testing and preventative, microchip and dog license.
Fees for Dog License Tags:
$12.00 Dogs 3-9 months.
$12.00 Dogs 9 months or older that has been spayed or neutered.
$24.00 Dogs over 9 months that has not been spayed or neutered.
