Who We Are

The Humane Association has served the Warren County community as an independent non-profit animal welfare organization made up of volunteer membership for 36 years. As a part of the Warren County community, we provide essential service for almost 6,000 animals each year. The cornerstone of our organization is humane education, aiming to instill the concepts of respect and responsibility for all life. Through education, we encourage both young people and adults of our community to adopt more humane lifestyles, which enhances the lives of companion, farm and wildlife animals.

Adopting a friend

PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS: If you are considering adopting a pet you see here, stop by as soon as you can, complete an application and visit with the pet to see if he/she is right for your family. We handle almost 6,000 pets a year, so we are limited to available kennel space, and many pets get adopted quickly.

All our pets are spayed/neutered before they go to their new homes (exception is the small animals). If a pet is not fixed you must first complete the adoption before the pet will be scheduled for its spay/neuter appointment. Typically, operations are completed in a couple days. The following day you may pick up your pet!

We try to maintain our Petfinder listing frequently, but some listed pets may already be adopted or no longer in our system. We do love to get our pets adopted and make every effort to promote them in the public; we are a very caring non-profit organization.

Our pet selection is constantly changing, so if you don't find a pet at our shelter this week, please come back next week! Most of our pets are mixed. These types typically have less health problems in the long run than purebred pets. So if you have always wanted a Husky, be open minded and try a Husky mix! We also have purebred pets available! Most of our pets are younger. By adopting a dog that is not a puppy, you will skip the “pooping and chewing” stage! Dogs can be trained at any age. Mature pets can easily "grow up with your kids".

We may have more pets than our listing on Petfinder. If you plan on contacting us regarding a pet, be sure to mention the breed/mix and pet ID. PLEASE call ahead to verify that the pet you are interested is still in our system. Thank you for respecting our policies and happy adopting!
