Peace for Pets is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We are not a rescue. We have 3 programs:
1) to provide foster care for the pets of women entering domestic violence shelters. We are in need of homes to provide short-term foster care - up to 90 days - for these pets;
2) to promote Trap-Neuter-Return as the only effective and humane method for controlling the feral cat population. We have a trap bank and provide specific information on how to trap feral cats, where to find low-cost spay/neuter clinics, and the care of a feral colony once the cat(s) is returned to your community; and
3) to provide community education on the humane treatment of all animals, develop new programs to assist pet owners in caring for and protecting their pets, and educate the public on the link between animal cruelty and human domestic violence. Other topics include how to chose the right pet for your home; immediate medical care for your pet including CPR, and teaching children how to approach and handle pets.
Occasionally we post pets for other rescues as a courtesy or we post pets in our foster care program that cannot be returned to their family of origin. But, we do not rescue pets or accept any pets our program other than those owned by women or men entering domestic violence shelters.
