Any time of the year is perfect to add a pet to your family!!
Be a responsible pet owner and spay or neuter your pets. The shelter has received a grant from the Cesar Millan Foundation and STILL has funds available to help with the costs of altering your dog. Please contact the shelter at 419-592-3777 for more information on this money saving grant!
If you are seeking to add a new friend to your life, please remember to check your local shelter first. There are many wonderful animals waiting at the shelter for their forever homes.
Please visit our pet list often - there are always many loving souls waiting to say "there's no place like home."

NEWS
Remember to check out our Bingo Fundraiser every Monday night at the Society for the Handicapped, Inc. building on Independence Drive in Napoleon. Doors open at five and the game starts at seven. Come join the fun!! We can always use volunteers to help with Monday night Bingo...if you are interested, please contact the shelter at 419-592-3777. We'd love to have you join in the fun!
Because our Monday night Bingo alone cannot possibly generate enough income for shelter operations, we need to plan a number of fundraisers for 2010. If you have an idea you think could benefit the shelter, please let us know! Send your creative fundraising ideas to us in an email to hchs@embarqmail.com. Please join us, help raise much needed funds and make some new friends along the way.
The Henry County Humane Society is currently participating in a fund raising program. This program pays our group $1-$12.00 for each empty Ink Jet or Laser printer cartridge we collect and $2.50 for each digital cell phone (working or not). Not only will this help us raise funds, it is also great for the environment. We are also starting to collect cell phones for the same purpose. So please bring any old or unused cell phones out to the shelter.
HCHS is funded by a weekly licensed Bingo fundraiser, donations, memberships and a contract with the County for dog sheltering services. The adoptable list changes on a daily basis so please come in and meet all of our unique animals.
HCHS staff provides quality care for all stray, homeless, abandoned and relinquished animals, and provides a full array of services for people with pets and/or pet problems, including lost and found pet assistance, adoptions, reclaims, pet surrenders, animal cruelty investigation, and general animal information assistance or referral.

Adoption fees include the cost to spay or neuter the animal. Dogs receive a heartworm check, DHPP vaccination (includes distempter, hepatitis, parvo & parainfluenze), physical at local veterinarian office, microchip and current dog license...ALL this for $125. In addition to being spayed or neutered, cats also receive a feline leukemia check and FVRC vaccination (includes distemper, rhinotracheitis & calicivirus), and a physical by a local vet for $80. All dogs that will remain in Ohio are required to have a current dog license when leaving the shelter and this cost is included in the adoption fee. We also offer discounts to senior citizens and members of the Humane Society. Not a member? Ask how you can become a member of the HCHS family and enjoy all the rewards that come along with membership!
All adopters sign a legally binding contract to insure Veterinary Care for each animal.
