Who We Are

It is very sad to know one of the main reason dogs are re-homed or placed in shelters is because of behavior problems. It doesn't have to be that way. Since I am a Dog Trainer by profession I see a side of the dog world that others do not. I also come across dogs with lots of potential that just lack a person who knows what to do with them. I make it my responsibility to try to educate owners on how to properly care and train the new dog they adopt from us. We take in dogs from shelters and owners. We also do this out of our home - no kennel or shelter type environment for the dogs, therefore we try to keep our numbers low to be able to provide the attention and training each dog needs to get adopted. We are also very big on nutrition so even though it can get expensive we still insist on feeding the dogs only top brands of holistic foods or raw diet. We are located in the Adirondacks just a few miles from Lake George but we also travel to Staten Island, NY and Binghamton, NY.

Adopting a friend

We do things a little differently than some rescues. The main difference being that our dogs come with mandatory or optional training depending on the situation. When we take in a dog that was given up purely because of it's behavior problems we are not about to adopt it into a home that wants to "train it themselves" or "try it on their own first'. It is our responsibility to find a home that best suits that particular dog. The way we see it is - isn't it much better to know the right things to do right away than wait for problems to arise and have to deal with it then? Unfortunately owners are often too focused on getting a dog quickly or for free not realizing that most dogs require some type of obedience training sooner or later. Even if it means us holding onto the dog longer - we must feel satisfied in knowing the dog will receive the proper structure and obedience in its new home the way it received from us. None of this is meant to deter any adopters of course but training is an important guideline we require and the ability to follow instructions.
