You might have come in recently and noticed you can walk through our kennel to visit a dog who interests you. A staff member will walk down with you since our dogs are still getting used to this new feature, but they are adapting quickly to having new faces come through the kennel.
No dog under our care will be put down due to lack of space or because it's been in the shelter too long. We want to help dogs on our waiting list in need of a new home, but we couldn't do that until we were sure we have that safe transition space for them!

Thinking about a charitable cause to donate to? Or need a gift for that hard to shop for person? What about giving the gift of Humane Association membership? The Humane Association will provide a certificate you can give to the person you want to honor. Humane Association membership entails updates from the shelter through newsletters, annual mailings, and upcoming events.
Click the image below, go to the "Shelter Challenge" tab on the right hand side of the page, search for "The Humane Association of CNY, Inc." and click "Vote". Return each day to help us get higher in the ranks and closer to weekly cash prizes.
Can you lend a few hours to help clean the shelter? Animal care doesn't take a break on Mondays and Tuesdays just because the shelter is closed to the public. There's always laundry to do, bowls to be filled, and messes to tend to, even on holidays. There are people at the shelter 365 days a year. Can you help out?
If cleaning up after animals doesn't sound appealing, do you have a special trade that might be of use to us? We're always looking for people to help us out in ways that aren't always associated with "animal shelter". Are you part of a sewing group? Do you know a group of painters looking to freshen up a tired space? Do you enjoy gardening, but don't have the space at your own residence? Call the shelter today and let them know you're interested in lending a hand! Every little bit helps. Suggestions are welcomed as there are always talents, trades, and skills out there that we might not think of.
We would gratefully accept donations of any of the following items. Please drop off items noon - 5 pm Wednesday through Sunday or by appointment. Durable items may be left near the shelter’s front door.
Cat litter, canned cat & dog food, litter pans, catnip, treats and toys for cats & dogs
Air fresheners, large trash bags, disposable gloves, carpet remnants baking soda, laundry detergent, dish detergent, bleach, sponges, dryer sheets, blankets/sheets/towels/washcloths, paper towels, windex, brooms
Office supplies, stamps, computer paper
Monetary donations are especially appreciated!
