"Sami and Selim"

Every day in shelters all across the US, perfectly healthy, adoptable dogs and cats are killed. Many shelters just don't have the room to care for the huge number of unwanted animals turned in on a daily basis, so they feel the only option is to euthanize them. Rescues try to save some of the animals on "death row" who are scheduled to be killed the following day, knowing that these dogs and cats are very adoptable and deserve a chance at life. When I saw that Sami and Selim were scheduled to die because they were too young to be adopted and had a cold, I knew we wanted to save them. We work with a rescue in NYC who quickly pulled these two boys from the shelter for us and we took them into our home. Now Sami and Selim are happy house cats. They're very friendly social guys who love people, other cats and even friendly dogs. They can be adopted as a pair, or would be happy in a home with other cats to play with. They're calm and quiet, don't get into trouble, perfect for any home environment. They're neutered, up to date on all vaccines, healthy and move in ready!

If interested in adopting Sami, Selim or any of the other cats and kittens, please fill out an application on our website or contact us for more information.

Please consider adopting these beautiful boys today.

Little Mews News...

Kitten season has started early again. We've taken in a lot of unwanted pregnant cats and kittens this past spring, as well as several pregnant cats. We still have quite a few adult cats and older kittens available in variety of different colors, males and females of all ages.
There are several young adult cats looking for homes. Adult cats are much easier to care for than kittens, especially if you work full time. Kittens are like toddlers, they get into everything when your back is turned. They can be non-stop bundles of energy. If you want a calm, laid back companion, please consider adopting one of the adult cats.
Check back often as we'll be updating with new photos. Not all of the younger kittens are listed here yet, we don't add them until they're ready to be adopted. If you'd like to see more photos, just ask!
If interested in adopting, please fill in an application on our website. If you're looking for a particular color or breed cat/kitten let me know. If we don't have it I'm sure we can find one for you. We usually have a list of cats and kittens that need to find new homes, and can refer you to other rescues and shelters that always have cats and kittens available. We've taken in a large number of cats and kittens with mild to severe health conditions over this past year. If you'd like to help with some of the cost of veterinary care, it would help us tremendously. Every dollar of your donation goes directly to the care of the cats and kittens.

Who We Are...

Little Mews is an all volunteer, 501(c)3 non profit rescue located in Chenango County in beautiful upstate NY. We take in cats and kittens from a variety of situations, usually stray, unwanted, neglected or abused. They're cared for indoors in a foster home with lots of love and attention, and socialized with other cats and dogs. We try to get them to adapt to normal family life so they'll be ready to settle in to their new homes quickly. Since the cats and kittens live in a home, not a shelter facility, we have the time to get to know each cat individually. We know which ones are shy or outgoing, who is the most playful, or the most quiet. Because we know the personality of each cat and kitten, we're able to match you with one that will fit your family and lifestyle the best.
All cats and kittens available for adoption have been checked by a vet, vaccinated for FVRCP, rabies (if over 4 months), tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV/Heartworm, wormed, treated with flea preventative, and spayed/neutered if old enough. All health conditions are treated so that the cats can be adopted as healthy as possible.
We do ask for an adoption donation, which is used to help recoup the cost of veterinary care and may vary depending on the age and special needs of the cat/kitten.
Our main goals are to find safe, healthy, forever homes for cats and to promote spay/neuter so that the number of unwanted cats is lowered every year.
We also can refer you to other organizations in the area that have dogs, cats and other animals for adoption, and have information about low cost spay/neuter options. If we don't have the cat or kitten you're looking for we'll do what we can to help you find the perfect kitty. We want every cat and kitten out there without a home to find one.

Adopting a cat or kitten...

If you're interested in adopting from us, please fill out an application on our website. Click here for Adoption Application After we receive your application, we'll contact you by phone or e-mail to discuss the adoption process, fees and policies. We'll get a little better idea of which cat or kitten you're interested in and decide if it's a good match for your family. If you rent, please get written permission from your landlord, or a copy of your lease where it states cats are allowed. Since we don't have an adoption center yet, the cats are in several foster homes. You can make arrangements to visit with the cats first before you decide to adopt. Feel free to ask any questions you might have. Remember you're taking a cat or kitten into your home for the rest of it's life, which could be around 20 years. We want to make sure you make the right decision before you take home your new family member.
