Our Featured Pets...

JAZZIE is a young blue tabby female cat who is currently being fostered by the person who found her. We would love to see Jazzie get a home for the holidays before she ever has to experience life in a shelter.

MAIA is a 7-year-old pitbull terrier who is desperate for a new home for the holidays. She gets along great with people of all ages! Maia would not be good in a home with cats or other small non-canine pets. Maia has skin allergies and needs a veterinary diet and daily medication, which she takes without a problem.

Donations

We rely on donations to support our endeavors. For your convenience, credit card donations may be made on our website www.4-leggedfriends.net, in person at the shelter, or by mail to FLFAA, P.O. Box 22861, Rochester, NY 14692.

FLFAA is actively seeking Barn Homes for extremely shy cats. These cats were taken from dangerous situations and have been neutered and vaccinated and tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV. Great for mouse patrol!! Please contact us if you can accommodate one, two, or more cats in your barn or outbuilding.

Who We Are

Four-Legged Friends Animal Adoptions is a 501(c) 3 public charity formed in 2006. We are dedicated to providing a safe haven for animals in need until they can be placed in loving, permanent homes.

We are funded by private donations and modest adoption fees. We are an all-volunteer organization.

Our main focus is on controlling the pet overpopulation problem through spaying and neutering, and on educating the public about the effects of irresponsible pet ownership. We participate in TNVR (trap, neuter, vaccinate, return) and bring friendly strays and kittens into the shelter when possible.

All of our adoptable animals are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. They are also microchipped to help ensure their safe return should they stray from home. Cats have all been tested for feline leukemia (FeLV) and FIV, and are up-to-date on vaccinations and parasite control. Dogs have been heartworm/Lyme/Ehrlichia tested and are up-to-date on vaccinations and parasite control.

We rely on excellent foster families to care for our adoptable kittens (under 12 weeks old) and dogs until the perfect forever home comes along. We do not KILL animals to make room for other animals.

Adopting a friend

You can download an adoption application on our website, www.4-leggedfriends.net. Adoption applications can be returned via e-mail, snail mail to P.O. Box 22861 Rochester, NY 14692, or in person at the shelter or at PetSmart Adoption Days.

Our adoption fee for cats and kittens is $75 and $150 for dogs and puppies. The average amount we spend per animal is much more than that, so additional donations toward vet bills are always welcome! (The amount of your donation over and above the adoption fee is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.)

Please note: Kitten adoptions are to indoor homes only. If you are interested in an indoor/outdoor cat, we often have older cats available for adoption that will fit the bill -- just ask!

Come Visit Us!

We are an all-volunteer organization, so appointments are appreciated. We have a "morning shift" and an "evening shift" for performing the necessary chores each day, and our volunteers will try their best to accommodate you if you just drop in, but please understand there will be times when they are unable to open the shelter to unexpected visitors.

If you'd like to come meet our shelter kitties, please contact us @ FLFAA@aol.com or 585-248-2920. Appointment times are available most days and evenings with some advance notice.

We bring our "most adoptable" animals to PetSmart National Adoption Events, held in February, May, September, November, and December. Please check our website www.4-leggedfriends.net for an updated schedule. Rarely, due to circumstances beyond our control, we are unable to attend a scheduled adoption day, so feel free to call us ON THE DAY OF the event to confirm that our adoptable animals will be there. Also, if you are interested in a particular pet, please tell us and we will do our best to bring along that pet.
