HOME IS WHERE THE CAT IS

We have so many wonderful cats that need great homes! Take a few minutes to come to the shelter and meet them. It will brighten your day, we promise!

To Adopt: Cats over 10 months old are only $25 with approved application. Younger kittens are only $50. All of our animals are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. They are all up-to-date on vaccinations and have tested negative for feline leukemia and feline AIDS (FeLV/FIV).

Please note: Kitten adoptions are to indoor homes only. If you are interested in an indoor/outdoor cat, we often have older cats available for adoption that will fit the bill -- just ask!

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

A no-kill shelter is a wonderful thing, but along with it come many expenses! Please consider giving a small monetary donation from you or your pet to help our shelter animals while they search for a new home and a happy life.

We are a 501(c)3 public charity, so donations are tax-deductible as provided by law.

For your convenience, credit card donations may be made through our website donation page @ www.FLFAA.net, or our mailing address is P.O. Box 22861 Rochester, NY 14692.

You can reach us by phone at 585-248-2920. As an all-volunteer group, we often cannot get to the phone because we're cleaning the shelter or transporting cats to vet appointments or or or...so please, leave a message and let us know the best time of day to get back to you, then be patient! We WILL call you back as soon as humanly possible.

Our Featured Pet...

MINI is an adorable short haired dilute tortoiseshell female born in September of 2008. She is a sweet, friendly little cat that will steal your heart! MINI is indeed "mini" -- at over a year old, she weighs in at only 4 pounds.

MINI was originally adopted in December 2008, but returned to us over the summer because she had developed unusual problems requiring special care. After many veterinary consultations and much trial and error, MINI is stable and again looking for a loving forever home. She is now considered a "Special Needs" cat.

MINI is currently on a medication called Gabapentin to control nerve pain. She will most likely need this medication her whole life. She is also receiving acupuncture treatments, which have had a wholly positive effect, and should continue.

MINI cannot (or will not) jump up on your counters or your couch or your beds, or go up and down stairs. She gets very nervous around most other animals. The ideal home would be one where she was the only pet, with no small children, and with windows at ground level. Hey, you can ask for the moon, but sometimes you have to settle for the clouds...if you can offer a loving home of any kind, PLEASE contact us right away!

MINI is currently in foster care, where she will remain until a loving home is found for her. She is the sweetest little kitty with the biggest dark eyes and a strong will to survive. Please e-mail us at FLFAA@aol.com to arrange to meet MINI soon! She'd love a new home for the holidays!

Donations

For your convenience, credit card donations may be made thru PayPal on our website www.FLFAA.net, or our mailing address is P.O. Box 22861 Rochester, NY 14692.

FLFAA is actively seeking Barn Homes for extremely shy cats. These cats were taken from dangerous situations and have been neutered and vaccinated and tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV. Great for mouse patrol!! Please contact us if you can accommodate one, two, or more cats in your barn or outbuilding.

Who We Are

Four-Legged Friends Animal Adoptions is a not-for-profit public charity formed in 2006. We are dedicated to providing a safe haven for animals in need until they can be placed in loving, permanent homes.

We are funded by private donations and modest adoption fees. We are an all-volunteer organization.

Our main focus is on controlling the pet overpopulation problem through spaying and neutering, and on educating the public about the effects of irresponsible pet ownership. We participate in TNVR (trap, neuter, vaccinate, return) and bring friendly strays and kittens into the shelter when possible.

All of our adoptable animals are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. They have all been tested for feline leukemia (FeLV) and FIV, and are up-to-date on vaccinations and parasite control.

We rely on excellent foster families to care for our adoptable animals until a suitable home can be found. We do not KILL animals to make room for other animals.

Adopting a friend

You can download an adoption application on our website, www.FLFAA.net. Adoption applications can be returned via e-mail, snail mail to P.O. Box 22861 Rochester, NY 14692, or in person at the shelter or at PetSmart Adoption Days.

Our adoption fee for cats over 10 months old is $25. For younger cats, the fee is $50. The average amount we spend per animal is much more than that, so additional donations toward vet bills are always welcome! (The amount of your donation over and above the adoption fee is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.)

Please note: Kitten adoptions are to indoor homes only. If you are interested in an indoor/outdoor cat, we often have older cats available for adoption that will fit the bill -- just ask!

Come Visit Us!

We are an all-volunteer organization, so appointments are appreciated. We have a "morning shift" and an "evening shift" for performing the necessary chores each day, and our volunteers will try their best to accommodate you if you just drop in, but please understand there will be times when they are unable to open the shelter to unexpected visitors.

If you'd like to come meet our shelter kitties, please contact us @ FLFAA@aol.com or 585-248-2920. Appointment times are available most days and evenings with some advance notice.

We bring our "most adoptable" animals to PetSmart National Adoption Events, held in February, May, September, November, and December. Please check our website www.FLFAA.net for an updated schedule. Rarely, due to circumstances beyond our control, we are unable to attend a scheduled adoption day, so feel free to call us ON THE DAY OF the event to confirm our adoptable animals will be there. Also, if you are interested in a particular pet, please tell us and we will do our best to bring along that pet.
