In October of 2002, Helping Paws Rescue was
formed. Helping Paws Rescue is a non-profit
group designed to provide temporary homes
for stray, abandoned and abused animals until
a quality, permanent home can be found.
Foster homes are provided by area volunteers.
The main foster home is in Broadalbin and is
managed by Karen M. Kiaunis, LVT.
Once an animal is surrendered or recovered,
Helping Paws Rescue provides for any of the
animals medical needs through a local
veterinarian. For example, when a cat is
surrendered or recovered, it is Felv/FIV tested,
wormed, vaccinated and spayed/neutered (if
age appropriate). Helping Paws Rescue is a
boundary-less organization and is open to all
animals in need, regardless of residing county
or species.
Helping Paws Rescue is a non-profit group,
which only seeks to recover cost through
public support. . Helping Paws Rescue also holds
monthly fundraisers to help recover costs and
promote spay and neuter education. Helping
Paws Rescue also helps disabled, senior and
compromised income families with the
spay/neuter needs of their pets, as funding allows.
