We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit, all volunteer organization, dedicated to rescuing small exotic pets and placing them into forever homes.
We rescue: guinea pigs, hamsters, rabbits, mice, gerbils, rats, degus, ferrets, chinchillas, hedgehogs, sugar gliders, reptiles, and birds.
We care for animals who are abandoned, or their owner's can no longer care for them, or their owner cannot afford their vet bill's or deal with a medical problem.
When someone has an animal in need they may choose to surrender the animal to our care. With proper veterinary care, and 100% health we then offer them for adoption.
We also specialize in caring for these small pets with special needs and/or disabilities. We have cared for and still do care for small pets with paralysis, amputated legs, blindness, neurological disorders, head tilt, etc.

Adopting a friend
Please call us at (716) 634-2462 or e-mail us at rachel_murphy@smallpets-bighearts.org about adopting any of the rescues. Given the busy schedules of our volunteers (vet appointments, surrender pick-ups, etc.) e-mail sometimes is the best way to get a hold of us. If you are looking to surrender a pet please contact us at the phone numbers or e-mail below. We do not require a surrendering fee and we will not pass any judgement. We also do not ask any questions. We are understanding that things happen and decisions need to be made. All we want is for the pet to remain safe and healthy. We will help with that and take care of finding a great, loving home.
