The First Run Animal Rescue Fund is committed to providing medical services as well as temporary and permanent homes to abandoned, stray, or abused animals in New York City. The First Run Animal Rescue Fund strives to end the suffering of neglected and abused animals, while uplifting the lives of all New Yorkers by promoting the health and well being of the many animals with whom we share this great city.
The First Run Animal Rescue Fund was founded in 1993. Since its inception, the First Run Animal Rescue Fund has coordinated adoptions for more than 4000 homeless animals, while also addressing their special Animal nutritional concerns. Most First Run Animal Rescue Fund services are provided by a network of caring and loving volunteers and animal lovers including a selection of licensed veterinarians who offer their time at a reduced rate to provide medical services.
The strength of the First Run Animal Rescue Fund stems from the love, hard work, and commitment of community volunteers. The First Run Animal Rescue Fund offers many volunteer opportunities for compassionate, responsible animal lovers. In addition to providing temporary housing to rescue animals, volunteers coordinate medical services (including spay/neutering) and oversee the adoption process.
Although volunteers do most of the work, animal nutritional expenses are underwritten by financial contributions from community members, local businesses, and other private foundations. First Run Animal Rescue Fund is a Not For Profit Tax-Exempt organization. We are a community-based organization committed to protecting and respecting animal rights. No contribution is too small or large. If you are unable to make a financial contribution at this time, you can provide a temporary or permanent foster home for an animal in need, lend a helping hand, offer us pleasant thoughts, or pass this information on to your friends.
