WE HAVE A NEW WEB SITE where you can download the Adoption Application, Foster Application and Weekend Waggle forms. Just go to http://www.rescuemek9.com/ and check out our new site. (Created by Terri Goff, Digital Media Services of Utica - http://www.dmwebdesigns.com) Rescue Me-Purebred K9 Rescue, Inc. is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) dog rescue (charity) organized by a group of women wanting to provide an alternative placement for dogs needing new homes and people needing to rehome their dog because of a special circumstances - poor economy/home foreclosures, death in the family, child becomes allergic, moving to another state or into an apartment, moving into a nursing home, dog does not accept new baby in the family, etc. Some people find it very difficult to surrender their dog to a Humane Society so we provide the alternative. We do not receive any grants or outside funding at this time, and all our expenses are covered via adoption fees and donations. Our staff consist of volunteers (most holding down full-time jobs) who love working with dogs and people. We are always in need of volunteers. All donations are tax deductible.
TRANSPORT FOR DOGS - If you would like to help by being part of a train to transport puppies, please contact Mary @ (315) 271-6161. We often times help another rescue with an over abundance of puppies and need help with transport (usually from southern NY). We often times need fosters for puppies so if this is something you might like to volunteer to do, please contact Denise at (315) 525-6097. FOSTER HOMES NEEDED IMMEDIATELY - Dogs are being surrendered almost daily. We are in desperate need of foster homes. Please check our dog descriptions and pick a dog to foster We also could use some volunteers to walk dogs, brush them (hair is everywhere), and just play with them.. Please NO PHONE CALLS after 9:00 p.m.
We are strickly a foster-based rescue organization. All of our dogs reside in the homes of wonderful people who take in dogs in need while awaiting their permanent homes. If we do not have a foster home available for a dog, we cannot help the dog or the family. Please consider opening your heart and home to dog(s) waiting for their second chance. YOU WILL TRULY MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN A DOG'S LIFE AND YOU WILL FEEL GREAT! HELPING DOGS... ONE AT A TIME. <

WEEKEND WAGGLE PROGRAM...

We have a "Weekend Waggle" program (application to fill out and be approved) where a family can take a dog home for the weekend. Please email Denise Carr - dogfriends@frontiernet.net - for more details or download an application from our new web site at http://www.rescuemek9.com/

Our "Adopt a Rescue Me Dog" program is a great program for kids as a school project, Sunday School project, 4-H, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, etc. We will bring the dog to visit the children in the organization, have their picture taken with them, and follow the dog through his journey to his new home.

ADOPT.... DON'T BUY!!

Say NO to Dog Breed BANS!!

These are wonderful dogs in the hands of the wrong people. Pit Bulls, Rottweillers, German Shepherds, Dobermans and many others.... they are ALL capable of being great family pets. Pit Bull Terriers used to serve our troops while serving during wars times (that is where the 'PIT' came from, being in the pits with soldiers) and Petey on "The Little Rascals" was a pit bull terrier!! Rotties are generally calm and very gentle dogs! It is all in how they are bred and raised. Please do your research before deciding against one of these amazing breeds or mixes.

Don't BAN the Breed... BAN the Disfunctional Owners!!

WHO WE ARE

ADOPTING A FRIEND

Dogs are truly "Man's Best Friend" because they don't care if you are having a bad hair day, if you're not wearing the latest styles, or you didn't clean the house today! A dog will love you when you are happy and be concerned when you are sad. WHEN PICKING UP YOUR NEW ADOPTED FRIEND, PLEASE BRING A LEASH AND COLLAR. Thank you.

Training your dog is Important!!

We truly believe that a happy pet is a trained pet! The majority of dogs that are surrendered to us are due to lack of training. Dogs prefer you to be the boss (alpha) so they don't have to bear that "burden;" though they will if they think they have too. That is when problems begin! If you train your child properly, you should also train your dog properly to be a good citizen. Training a canine to sit, stay, down, off and all the basics are very important, though it is equally important for the training to continue throughout their lives. It is never too late to obedience train your dog. "Rescue Me" can recommend local trainers that have volunteered to help us make our dogs more adoptable. In return we are very happy to provide their names, phone numbers and business cards. There are many trainers out there and some have different techniques. However we are saying that no matter who the trainer is... the same goal is in mind.... A happy dog/puppy makes for a happy dog owner!! We highly recommend you attend obedience training for you and your new dog. Obedience classes train the trainer, not the dog. It is your responsibility to carry through with what you have learned so your dog and family are both satisfied with the results.

Special Thanks!

Most importantly we would like to thank all of our volunteers and foster homes. Those who donate their time, homes, monies and love to save a dog in need. Without you, we wouldn't exist. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. ***
