We're volunteers with the Italian Greyhound Club of America's rescue program, covering the areas of New York City, New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania. All adoptions are done through the national group.
Adopting a friend
If you're interested in one of our dogs, please submit an application, available at the IGCA site. A rescue rep will call you to discuss your application and arrange for a home visit. All dogs are housed in foster homes so that we can get to know their personalities and make the best possible match. Easy to place dogs usually don't make it onto our pet list, as we often have a list of approved homes waiting for dogs. If you've researched the breed and think a rescued dog is for you, please submit an application, even if there is not a dog on our pet list in which you are interested. We often have more dogs in our rescue program than what are found here on Petfinder.
Italian Greyhounds are one of the most difficult breeds to house train and typically do not like to go outside when it is cold or wet, or even windy. If house training is a major issue for you, please do not apply. PLEASE NOTE: We DO NOT ship dogs. Please do your breed research and understand the Italian Greyhound characteristics to make sure this is the right breed for you. Not all dogs are created the same. You will need to complete an adoption application, obtainable from www.italiangreyhound.org. Reference checks and a home check are a required part of the adoption process. There are always new dogs available in the New York City , New Jersey, and Eastern Pennsylvania area. If you are interested in a dog of this breed being fostered by IGCA Rescue, please contact our local Rescue Representative (firstname.lastname@example.org) to start the adoption paperwork process. New dogs are typically matched to pre-aproved homes, so you need to start the adoption process by submitting an application. We try very hard to match the right dog with your family, so your application is important.
