The Hornell Animal Shelter makes available 16 dog runs with inside/outside access. The facility offers a separate room for puppies, and two specialized rooms for cats including a 9 cage quarantine room.

In addition to the clean, friendly areas we make available for our animals, our "people" office is modern, spacious and welcoming. We have a well-equipped examination room, an animal bathing area and administrative office.

We are located on the Industrial Road, just north of Hornell. Our big sign is visible from Route 36 on your right if you are traveling north. We would love to have you stop in for a visit!

Spay / Neuter Clinic

A service that we offer is a low-income eligibility spay / neuter clinic. The state of the art surgical suite was made possible through an ASPCA grant and local benefactors, to help pet owners with a low household income, be able to get their pets spayed or neutered at a lower cost. We have wonderful vets and techs working in the clinic and there are 2-4 days of appointments every week.

Clinic prices are as follows: Male cat - $50, female cat - $70, dog under 40 pounds - $100, dog over 40 pounds - $125.

Clinic fee includes: Physical exam by a licensed veterinarian, nail trim, ear cleaning, single dose of antibiotic, single dose of pain medication, rabies vaccine, medication for fleas, ear mites & roundworms.

There is an application that needs to be filled out, we must see proof of low income, and clinic fees must be paid before an appointment can be made.

OUR VISION The vision of the Hornell Area Humane Society is to be the premier independent and community-funded shelter providing compassionate care, education, and serving as a community resource encouraging responsible pet ownership.

OUR MISSION The mission of the Hornell Area Humane Society is to provide safe housing for animals without homes, reunite owners with lost pets, provide a comprehensive adoption program, and reduce pet overpopulation.

WHAT'S GOING ON

Annual Dr. Kelly Memorial Bake Sale
Wednesday, November 26th in front of Maple City Discount Liquors & Wines (in the Wegmans Plaza). There are always lots of goodies to choose from! Pies, brownies, cookies, bread, you name it!
If you would like to bake something for the event, please let us know!

Christmas Party for the Animals
This year's Christmas Party for the Animals will take place Saturday, December 6th at the shelter. Come on down for our Christmas party and bring a gift for the animals to put under our tree! We'll be giving tours of our facility and refreshments will be provided!

Volunteer Orientation
We have begun a new volunteer program! There is still a volunteer orientation to go through at the shelter, and that will take place twice a month in the evening, in the form of a class. The orientation is for anyone who would like to become a volunteer or interested in fostering. The class will allow you to become more familiar with the shelter and all the different things you can do to volunteer.
The 1st orientation class will take place Wednesday, December 3rd at 6:30 at the shelter.

Used Clothing Shed
We now have a shed to the right of our building to collect donations of clothing, shoes, sneakers, belts, purses, blankets, sheets, pillowcases, drapes and stuffed toys. These items will then be collected by St. Pauly Textile Inc. and we will receive money from the items taken. Your donations of these items are greatly appreciated because they will be sent to people who can use it them all over the world. You can even receive a tax deduction for your donation - receipts are on the shed. To help keep your donations clean and dry, please put them in plastic bags. Items that are NOT accepted are rags, fabric scraps, pillows, toys or household goods.

Electronic Recycling
We now have a year round shed for your old electronics. We'll take pretty much any electronic devices, excluding projectors, air conditioners, and any large kitchen appliances such as refrigerators and stoves. We use REACT e-cycle, which is HIPPA compliant. With the holiday season coming up, we're now taking Christmas lights.

Returnable Cans / Bottles
We will gladly take your returnable bottles and cans off your hands! Drop them off at the shelter on Industrial Park Road.

Micro-Chipping
