The Hornell Animal Shelter makes available 16 dog runs with inside/outside access. The facility offers a separate room for puppies, and two specialized rooms for cats including a 9 cage quarantine room.
In addition to the clean, friendly areas we make available for our animals, our "people" office is modern, spacious and welcoming. We have a well-equipped examination room, an animal bathing area and administrative office.
We are located on the Industrial Road, just north of Hornell. Our big sign is visible from Route 36 on your right if you are traveling north. We would love to have you stop in for a visit!
OUR VISION is to assure the best possible shelter and care of our community's dogs and cats while they are awaiting adoption into loving homes. We promote humane education and encourage community involvement.
OUR MISSION is to nurture and promote the human/animal bond while raising community awareness through education.
WHAT'S GOING ON
Volunteer Orientation
Orientations are always the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 5:30 at the shelter. We ask that all new volunteers go through a volunteer orientation. This will allow you to become more familiar with our shelter and the rules, as well as all the different things you can do to volunteer. It also includes a tour of our building and meeting all the wonderful animals. The orientation normally lasts for about 30 minutes.
Christmas Garage Sale
November 19th & 20th from 9am - 4pm at the shelter. This is Christmas items only garage sale. If you have items to donate or are interested in helping out please contact us at the shelter at 324-1270.
Annual Bake Sale
We will be having our annual Thanksgiving Bake Sale at Sears in Hornell on Wednesday, November 24th from 9am until sold out. If you are interested in baking or helping out at the bake sale please let us know!
Annual Basket Auction
We will be having our annual Basket Auction starting on Saturday, December 4th...more info to follow as we get closer.
Lupine Collar Sale
We are now selling Lupine collars and leashes up at the shelter. There are many different designs and colors. Prices range from $8 - $14 for dog collars, $11 - $17 for leashes and cat collars are $9. These collars are very durable and have a lifetime guarantee.
Micro-Chipping
We now offer micro-chipping at our shelter for just $20. If you would like to have your dog micro-chipped, just give us a call at 607-324-1270 to make an appointment.
Dirty Dog Bath
Does your "dirty dog" need a bath? For $20, we will shampoo, dry, and brush your dog. To make an appointment, give us a call at 607-324-1270.
