The Hornell Animal Shelter makes available 16 dog runs with inside/outside access. The facility offers a separate room for puppies, and two specialized rooms for cats including a 9 cage quarantine room.

In addition to the clean, friendly areas we make available for our animals, our "people" office is modern, spacious and welcoming. We have a well-equipped examination room, an animal bathing area and administrative office.

We are located on the Industrial Road, just north of Hornell. Our big sign is visible from Route 36 on your right if you are traveling north. We would love to have you stop in for a visit!




OUR VISION is to assure the best possible shelter and care of our community's dogs and cats while they are awaiting adoption into loving homes. We promote humane education and encourage community involvement.

WHAT'S GOING ON

Volunteer Orientation
December 8th at 5:30 at the shelter. We ask that all new volunteers go through a volunteer orientation. This will allow you to become more familiar with our shelter and the rules, as well as all the different things you can do to volunteer. It also includes a tour of our building and meeting all the wonderful animals. The orientation normally lasts for about 30 minutes.

Christmas Garage Sale
The shelter will be hosting a Christmas items only garage sale November 20th - 21st from 9am - 2pm at the shelter. Items include: Christmas trees, Christmas lights, decorations, ornaments, etc.

Bake Sale
We will be having our annual bake sale on Wednesday, November 25th at Sears in Hornell. It will start at 9am and will go until sold out.

Basket Auction
We will be hosting our annual basket auction just in time for the holidays. I fyou would like to donate a basket for the event please let us know! This event will take place at the shelter the week of November 30th through December 5th. The drawings will be at noon that Saturday.

Micro-Chipping
We now offer micro-chipping at our shelter for just $20. If you would like to have your dog micro-chipped, just give us a call at 607-324-1270 to make an appointment.

Dirty Dog Bath
Does your "dirty dog" need a bath? For $20, we will shampoo, dry, and brush your dog. To make an appointment, give us a call at 607-324-1270.

Birthday Parties
Is your child looking for something fun and different to do for their birthday? We offer a fun afternoon of games, cake and humane education. They also get to hang out with some of the animals. The cost is $10 per child.

Massage Therapy
We are now offering massage therapy for dogs and horses. Dogs: $35 / Horses: $55 (plus a travel fee if neccessry). Sessions are approximately 1 hour depending on the animal. There are so many benefits of therapy. Massage therapy has been shown to...

Massage therapy is not only beneficial for older animals with arthritis, but also for younger, healthy animals. It can help them to have a longer, happier life. We cannot do massages on animals that have cancer, fever or low blood pressure.
