We are a home-based rescue. Since most of our dogs are terriers or small dogs, we prefer to place our animals in new homes with fenced in yards and at least one family member with a flexible schedule. Crate training is recommended and generally started on all dogs.
To be a best friend, you should be a well informed friend. Please research your desired breed and plan on obedience training. If you live in the local area, I highly recommend Dr. Karen Garielick, http://www.docsk9center.com/ she is based in Kingston, NY. 20 miles north of New Paltz. Please ask for an application and one will be sent to you via email. Thanks! I do require a Vet Reference, so please locate a Vet in your area that you plan on working with and that you have contacted with your plans to adopt. Please ask for a fee schedule so that you will be familiar with the cost of owning a dog. An appointment is required within 5 days of adoption to insure that you are satisfied with the health of your new dog.
An adoption fee does apply when adopting a dog, puppy, cat, or kitten, unless otherwise noted. Puppies and Kittens adoption fees are higher as it takes more in vetting and care; Adult animals are at a standard fee or noted as a set lower adoption fee. As we are a home based rescue, all expenses for this endeavor come out of pocket and the adoption fee help to offset and ensure that we can continue our rescuing of those who need a second chance. While the adoption fee may seem high, it is a compilation of gas that we use when traveling to shelters, pull fees that shelters that we work with charge us, food and any necessary vetting (shots, health certificate, life saving surgeries, etc). We make no profit on what we do, we simple do it to give these lost souls another chance when they might not get one. We have more pets available than are listed, so please feel free to inquire at: LElmlinger@aol.com ***ADOPT-A-PET*** Getting decent pictures are hard to get when your subject has four legs and moves faster than a normal cameras shutter speed, so they tend to miss out on being up on the site. :) Due to the sudden passing of my mother, MaryJean Sprague on March 6th 2014, who started this rescue we have moved our adoptable animals to our sister rescue in Hopewell Junction, NY during this sad time as we adjust and make plans for the future. A future in which we may be able to continue her mission. This page will remain active as we help our sister rescue, Adopt-a-Pet ((Leslie- LElmlinger@aol.com)) (can be viewed on Facebook) with finding homes. Please feel free to contact us and we will pass any inquires on. ~Marissa firstname.lastname@example.org
