Our Star Pet

Our Star Pet introduces herself...
Name: Tasha
Breed: Husky/Lab Mix
Gender: Female/Spayed
Age: Adult
I came here on October 7, 2008. I am a staff favorite and the gals here cannot understand why I have not been chosen to be someone's life long companion. I am a very good girl and need a FOREVER home, as do my kids Shelby and Simon. Please check out my picture and story on Petfinder--I'm a great girl who deserves a wonderful home! Won't you consider sharing yours?

News

We are excited about our shelter newsletter, "The Shelter Scoop" and our e-mail bulletin, "The Shelter Scoop Bulletin". If you would like a copy of our newsletter or would like to be included on our e-mail bulletin list, email the shelter with your name, address or e-mail address and request.

Who We Are

We are a small, rural animal shelter with a big heart caring for the homeless pets from 95% of Delaware County in New York State (take a look at a map and you'll see what a feat this is!)as well as pets from three other counties. Approximately 1,048 homeless animals came to us during 2000 and more come each year. We lovingly care for each one hoping someone will give them the home they deserve. As a private non-profit shelter, we exist only through donations of compassionate people like you. Our special program-- Project Dog -- gives dogs a chance to have their own special time with a shelter worker here and at their home while they are waiting for adoption. This project was written up in the ASPCA magazine and is a great success. We also have a wonderful humane education program for schools and a new fostering program. Foster homes are desperately needed, so if you are interested contact us! You can read more about us by visiting our webpage at: www.heartofthecatskills.org or clicking on the first paragraph at the top of this page.

Volunteering and Donations

Our volunteers are important to us, and we'd love to have you join them by walking dogs, socializing cats, helping with fundraisers and other fun activities. Contact us if you want to join. Donations are greatly needed. We have a "wish list" on our website and any help would be appreciated.
