CHIEF is Our Featured Pet for all of the right reasons. Chief was living in an abandoned home. He was being fed by a good samaritan but was left to fend for himself in a climate that can be brutally cold during winter months. Most of all he was lonely and needed a warm home and a warm heart to rescue him. He was unneutered and through no fault of his own, able to add to the pet over population problem in this country. The volunteers at Animal Aid of Cortland Inc. work tirelessly towards educating the community and offering low cost spay/neuter for companion animals. Little Chief is an affectionate dog who deserved better from life. He could be one of the poster children for the reason why it is so important to spay and neuter your pet. Chief eventually found a home of his very own.

For the third year in a row, Animal Aid of Cortland, Inc. in conjunction with North Shore Animal League hosted their 2006 Tour For Life Adoptathon on April 29, 2006. Rescue organizations from surrounding areas joined in to make everyone aware of the benefits of sharing your life with a rescued companion animal. The weather was perfect and the pets were pleased to strut their stuff. Another successful day for adoptions and several hopeful applicants were patiently waiting to bring their new family members home at the end of the day.

Who We Are
We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to spay/neuter and responsible pet ownership. We endeavor to fulfill our MISSION:
1. Encourage and assist in funding an animal population control program through spaying and neutering animals.
2. Work to return lost and found animals to their rightful owners.
3. Find suitable homes through adoption for strays if rightful owners are not found.
4. Encourage people to treat their animals kindly and responsibly and keep them healthy.
Animal Aid continues to help people who cannot afford standard veterinary fees for their pets, and people who support colonies of feral cats and barn cats. In addition to working to curb pet overpopulation, AAoC helps to find homes for stray and companion animals for people who can no longer care for them.
We would like to thank Petfinder and North Shore Animal League America for assisting us in the placement of many otherwise homeless animals.
