Buffalo Pug & Small Breed Rescue, Inc. - Petfinder
Who We AreBuffalo Pug & Small Breed Rescue is now in its ninth year of operations. We accept dogs from anywhere, be they owner surrenders, shelter turnovers or strays. We operate in Buffalo & Rochester, NY and serve surrounding areas as well.
We currently consist of four directors and several foster homes. We are always looking for new volunteers in the Western New York area for fostering, transporting, home visits for adoptions and volunteer candidates, and coordination of adoptions and vet care.
We are a 501(c)3 non profit organization whose sole purpose is to rescue pugs and small breeds, treat them for any ailments or psychological problems, match them up to the perfect "forever home" and then adopt them out successfully.
Our goals are two-fold: primarily we want to be sure that each dog gets into the proper home to minimize any possibility that either the dog or the adopter is ever unhappy with their situation. Our second goal is to ensure that we maintain open communication with the shelters that have signed a dog into our program. We will always follow up with a shelter about a dog they have surrendered to us. We will let them know about the new adoptive family and keep them informed of any updates that we get from the forever home.
Our dogs are ALWAYS spayed or neutered prior to adoption taking place. If a situation arises where a dog cannot be altered before adoption proceedings take place, we ensure that our contract with the adopter states that they must have the dog altered within a reasonable time frame, dependent upon the situation.
A message to potential adopters...Our adoption form can be found by going to our page. Please bear with us in regard to getting a call or email from us. We will only contact you if we have a dog that is suited to your application, so please be sure to be detailed when filling it out. The more selections that you make in the "...breed you would most be interested in..." field, the higher your chances of getting a call are! Again, patience is important as we are not full time rescue employees. Once a match has been identified, the applicant will get either a call or an email to see if there is any interest in the particular dog. If the interest is there, the adopter will be given the phone number of the dog's foster and the process of reference checking and scheduling the home visit will begin.
A message to potential volunteers...WE NEED YOU! We are always in desperate need of foster homes in the Buffalo & Rochester NY areas. Our foster families provide a stable, loving home until a forever home can be found. Please fill out our volunteer application at the site!
