Adopting a Friend
Sandies Angels is an all volunteer animal rescue group that began seven years ago. It came into being through a natural progression of events, the first of which was when a couple of our founding members were asked by a co-op board to trap and spay/neuter feral cats on the property. This was successfully accomplished with the adult cats; however, there were kittens involved as well. Fortunately, they were young enough to be socialized. The efforts to find homes for these kittens resulted in more homes than kittens - the best problem possible! Now we were finding homes for kittens (and cats) from other places. This snowballed into a fullfledged cat rescue endeavor - TNR (trap, neuter ,release), feeding feral colonies, bottle feeding orphaned kittens, getting medical attention for cats and kittens, advertising cats and kittens in need of homes, finding foster homes for them, holding adoption days to show them to prospective adopters, etc. We never euthanize an animal unless medically necessary.

A few years back, we were made aware of a situation in which an elderly woman had many small breed dogs, none of which were spayed or neutered. They were procreating on an ongoing basis. Hence our expansion into the dog world. We spayed and neutered the dogs, returned them to the woman and got homes for the puppies, after nursing them back to health. The rest is history.

The group of volunteers, namely Sandies Angels, not only donate their time, but their money as well. The efforts of the group have been funded by its members. Needless to say, this has become exceedingly difficult. As the number of animals we rescue continues to grow, so do our expenses. This is why we are in the process of obtaining 501(c) (3) status. This status would make contributions tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

Please consider donating time and/or money to help us help the animals. Be an angel!
