The American Foundation for Animal Rescue, Inc. (AFAR) is a private, not-for-profit IRS 501C(3) charitable animal welfare organization incorporated in the State of New York in 1997. The mission of the American Foundation for Animal Rescue, Inc. (AFAR) is to educate and inform the public about companion animal welfare issues, responsible companion animal ownership and care giving, the link between domestic violence, child abuse and animal abuse, the importance of early behavior evaluation and behavioral training for companion animals, the necessity to spay and neuter companion animals to prevent overpopulation which leads to abandonment, cruelty and euthanasia, and that companion animal care giving is a lifetime commitment. |
