Cat Fancy reports that 80% of vets surveyed agreed that cats prefer the company of other cats. This is because cats are social creatures and loneliness or lack of companionship of their own species seems to be responsible for many behavioral problems. So Cat Fancy, as do we, recommend adopting two kitties together unless you already have a resident kitty. If you have a single resident kitty, it is recommended to adopt another to keep him company- especially if he is by himself/herself most of the day.
