Who We Are

(Visit our website at www.projectcat.org to learn more about us.)

Project Cat is a nonprofit, environmentally conscious, animal welfare organization dedicated to assisting felines in need in our local community. Our purpose is to provide rescue, shelter, medical care, and find permanent homes to felines in need however, we have a much broader scope.

In our effort to rescue cats we try to put things in perspective of the whole and try to make educated decisions that are in the best interests of the cats and of the environment in which they live. We seek to educate and broaden peoples' views about cats and their role in our society and in the environment.

We try very hard to use natural, biodegradable litters, high quality natural foods, and reduce wastes by recycling. We are advocates of keeping cats indoors for their own safety and so they will not negatively impact wildlife, however, we do not require it when adopting a cat from us.

We offer feline community assistance, rescue and adoptions, and behavioral consulting.

Adopting A Cat

All cats and kittens that are adopted from our shelter are spayed or neutered, vaccinated for distemper, upper respiratory diseases and rabies, tested for leukemia and FIV, and treated for any internal or external parasites.

As of 9/15/07 adoption donations are $145. Due to the recent loss of our area's low-cost spay/neuter clinic we must pass on our increased costs to adopters. Our shelter runs on donations, so this fee is vital to the continuation of our work. Remember that our cats have received all basic veterinary care.

We require a completed application with 2 personal references and a veterinary reference. Please allow 24 hours while we contact references by phone.

All cats must be transported in a cat carrier.

We make every effort to match up cat and adopter based on personality, household activity, and expectations - because we want you and your new feline companion to live a long and happy life with each other.

Adoptions are done by appointment only so please call first.
