Operation Wildcats was created to help feral cats… “wild cats” as many people call them. The cats you see fleeing from you in the opposite direction. The kittens you try to catch but who end up scurrying after their moms in terror because they don’t understand that you’re trying to help them. This is the life of a feral cat… distrust, terror, and ultimate survival. What we do as an organization is trap these cats, test them for Felv (Feline Leukemia Virus) and FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), spay or neuter and vaccinate for rabies and FVRCP (upper respiratory). After a short recovery period, we release them back into their established colonies, where a dedicated caregiver supplies them with shelter and food. Of course, not all the cats we help are feral – some are simply scared and when we get to know them, we realize we can’t re-release them into a society that doesn’t always understand the life of a feral cat. So, we often have cats and kittens up for adoption. We have recently obtained in April 2007 a mobile spay neuter clinic which will be allowing us to spay and neuter many more cats for a low cost. Updated information will be added when available. For anyone local who would like to volunteer please call us. All in all… this is what we’re here for… to help feral cats survive and be safe and disease free… and, to help cats who aren’t feral to find homes. Please visit us at www.operationwildcats.org.
