The Town of Camillus Dog Control Shelter is home to loose dogs that are picked up by the Dog Control Officer, we are NOT a public shelter. The shelter is under Police surveillance 24/7.
We hold the dogs for five days of impoundment which is required by New York State, this gives their owner time to claim them. During this time the shelter staff evaluates them and tends to their needs and attempts to reduce the anxiety that is caused by their displacement by nurturing them. The shelter is a clean and healthy environment for the dogs, where they receive basic care, exercise, training, and lots of love!
We believe that unclaimed stray dogs deserve a second chance to find a great home and become a loving and devoted family member and companion! The shelter staff evaluates each dog's personality and temperament in order to match each dog with an appropriate home.
We're proud to have placed countless dogs into great families in which they have thrived!
