OUR DOG OF THE MONTH:Martina!

Martina Pure love and joy! This one year old beauty was born with deformed front paws. But don't let that fool you. She is able to walk, run and play like any other dog. She is happy, friendly and lovable. She was abandoned at a subway station in Quito, Ecuador, where she was found smiling and wagging her tail to anyone who would pay attention to her. At 28 lbs., Martina is ideal for those who want a medium, active dog. She loves other dogs, people, children and anyone willing and able to join her during playtime. But she is also calm and well behaved during quiet times. She is happy laying on your couch or simply taking a nap anywhere in the house. She is the perfect companion for anyone who loves the Golden Retriever and Shepherd breeds. Martina is spayed, vaccinated and ready to join her forever home. To inquire about Martina, email Toni at: toni.strayfromtheheart@gmail.com

WHO WE ARE

Founded in Sept. 2000 Stray from the Heart is a non-profit, volunteer-run dog rescue organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of homeless dogs. SFTH has grown into a network of volunteers who donate their time, expertise and housing space to help abandoned, abused, and neglected dogs find permanent, loving homes.

SFTH is also a member of the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals, a collaboration between animal care groups and the City of New York aimed at developing creative solutions to local animal care and control issues.

To date SFTH has helped rescue over 2,400 dogs, all without the benefit of either paid employees or a dedicated shelter facility. We rely solely on the generosity of its volunteers, supporters and contributors for its continued success.

We are different from other shelter and rescue organizations in that we have the uncanny ability to continuously successfully match up pets and people. As desperate as our little ones are for a home, we will always hold out for the right home.

If you have room in your life for a new best friend, call 212.726.DOGS and speak to an adoption counselor/matchmaker today. Thank you for giving our Strays the chance to experience joy, love and a life beyond their wildest dreams.

Saving one dog may not change the world, but for that one dog the world has changed!" --author unknown
