In Memory of our special Pappy

We're starting a Pappy fund so other senior dogs can have a chance too. Please consider a small donation in Pappy's memory. Thank you.
Pappy was an older adult male beagle found as a stray. He had been hit by a car and went to a dog shelter. Then we took him in. Pappy had some other difficulties but was such a sweet guy who wanted nothing more than love. We gave him plenty.

You can help start the year off right by making a small donation of food or hay to Forgotten Friends. We now have 11 more dogs, 6 more cats and a couple more horses than we had last year. Can you help? Thank you in advance.

Thelma and Louise

Meet one our newer horse rescues -- Jacob! He was hours away from slaughter in New Jersey, and now makes his home at Forgotten Friends. How happy is Jacob to be here? Click his picture to see:

Meet Andy! Andy came from Georgia. He had to have both of his eyes removed because his owners neglected massive eye infections.

But don't feel sorry for him. Andy plays and can fetch a ball and find you any where you are. He has mastered going in and out on his own and has so much love to share. He is a hugger and cuddler. Andy will need sponsors to help with his care as he grows older.

Our History:
Forgotten Friends Pet Rescue, Inc. seeks to rescue, shelter, and find new forever homes for abused, abandoned, neglected, or unwanted animals from the community and from kill shelters around the country. Our mandate is to help all those who cannot help themselves. We live in a rural farm community with no animal cruelty investigators. We are often called upon to assist sick or injured animals left along the road. Forgotten Friends Pet Rescue has been a 501 (c) 3 not for profit rescue since 2001.

We could really use a simple donation of a WalMart Gift Card. That way, we could buy cat and dog food. We just never have enough canned food and with dogs and cats of all ages, they have different dietary needs. A Gift Card would help our animals a great deal.

Hello! My name's Midnight. I had no home until Forgotten Friends took me in. You oughta see me wag my tail now--I've already been adopted!!
>

Excuse me! We don't donkey around!

Our Animals:
Currently, we shelter 21 dogs, 18 cats, 12 horses, 1 pony, 8 donkeys, 2 goats, 3 pigs and a duck. We have a barn where the horses, donkeys and three pigs live. The dogs live in a garage which has been converted into a heated kennel with running water. Most of the dogs have had their own Kuranda beds donated over time. The cats also have a heated room attached to the house. Our organization is of course “no-kill.”

It just doesn't get any cuter than these Rat Terrier mixes. Several of them recently arrived and we have only one left -- and boy, is she a cutey! Would she fit nicely in your home? Please contact us at 518-284-2655 or yodelingyogi@aol.com

See Our Animals Here

2009:
Last year was one of the toughest rescue years yet. Because of the economic hard times more animals (dogs, cats and even horses) were being given up, abandoned and neglected than ever before -- and it continues into 2010.

We had a dramatic increase in the number of animals taken in and a decrease in the number of homes looking to take in a new pet. Food donation programs and grants to rescue are on the decline, making it that more difficult for rescues to keep their doors open.

Jacob and Betty

We like to make new friends and Betty is a best friend! She has collected so many towels and goodies for all the animals. We are in great need of rubber stall mats for everyone in both barns. You can send money via paypal or call Agway in Cobleskill and tell them you'd like to buy the animals at Forgotten Friends a mat or two. Agway's number is 518-234-2332 and a stall mat costs $37.50. This will give more of our animals happy legs and feet.

Sasha is a beauty! She's another one saved from death in a kill shelter and loves being here. The feeling is mutual. She already has made friends with 2 doggies and even some cats.

Your Help is Desperately Needed!

We accept PayPal, cash or check donations and our other big need right now is hay. Our animals use over 100 bales of hay every week and our dwindling supply will NOT get us through the winter. Please help any way you can.

Bandit, Gracie and Angel.

We found these (a total of 6) when they were kittens, running through the parking lot at WalMart. Though we're not a cat rescue, we took them in, since we value the lives of all animals. All 6 are available for adoption.

Please say hello to a great dog named Bishop

Bishop is a year and a half old male Maltese, whose owner called us because she was losing her place to live and she did not want him to end up on the streets with her. She then found out she could get Section 8 housing but no dogs were allowed. She would not take him to a shelter because he would be killed. So we took him in, got him neutered the next day and he got his vaccines too! And now...he's been adopted and has a new home and family!

Precious

A statement from Forgotten Friend’s President Joyce Urban:

I am an animal rights person who has been involved with helping animals all my life. I can always find the best part of an animal. I let them show me who they are and work with what they give me. I will stay up for days with a sick, injured or frightened animal to care for it. Shelters often ask me to take the fear biters or the food-aggressive dogs because I can be the alpha pack leader. One of our vets once told me that I spooked him because I could go in with a panicked horse and it would calm right down and the same with a growling dog.

I started rescuing horses after I was called one day about some donkeys being starved near the NJ/NY border. I went there and there were 45 donkeys all in various stages of malnutrition. I got the owner to sign them over to me and found all but 2 homes. I got very attached to them and the 2 are still with me. This opened my eyes to the needs of horses and donkeys, as well as slaughter houses, auctions houses and feed lots.

Bosco

We are in need of Frontline Plus for all size dogs. We have many little dogs under 15 pounds, larger ones over 50 pounds and a few in between. If you can help, you can send a donation of Frontline Plus to the address at the top of this page. Thank you!

JONESY

We take many special needs animals like Jonesy. This gorgeous Arabian boy was born in Indiana (his full name is Indiana Jonesy) with underdeveloped eyes and he cannot see. He needs special training and handling so he can lead a happy productive life. He will require a great deal of care. We have set up a special fund for his needs. We believe that all animals are special and some just need a little more care than others. He arrived at our rescue on Saturday, June 14th, 2008.

Please click on the PayPal button and make a donation for "Jonesy" and become a "Jonesy Angel."

********* MISTY NEEDS YOUR HELP!*********

This is our Misty

Misty is a special needs dog who has no bottom jaw. She can eat only pureed food. Some sort of horrible injury to her jaw caused the bone to be eaten away by a massive infection is what the vet told us. Found as a stray in the Bronx, NY, she had a litter of puppies which she cared for like no other mother dog with a full jaw could do. She kept them clean and warm while she was starving. She is a loving and courageous girl who will be with us until she dies. Misty loves canned Alpo and canned Kibbles and Bits. You can donate to her food fund and make her tail wag.

Please help us help Misty by sending a tax deductible donation to:

Who We Are

Forgotten Friends Pet Rescue is a not-for-profit 501(C)3 rescue organization which takes in animals that would otherwise lose their lives. We take many special needs animals that others turn away from.

Adopting a Friend

Adopting a pet from us is easy! We just require a vet reference, home check and an adoption fee.

Volunteering and Donations

We also welcome donations of towels, throw rugs & cleaning supplies. We are in great need of a good running new or used pick up or van. We need volunteers, too. You can give so much to a homeless animal by just spending a little time with them.

These guys gave up waiting for Santa and decided to wait for the hay guy instead
