Our History:
Forgotten Friends Pet Rescue, Inc. seeks to rescue, shelter, and find new forever homes for abused, abandoned, neglected, or unwanted animals from the community and from kill shelters around the country. Our mandate is to help all those who cannot help themselves. We live in a rural farm community with no animal cruelty investigators. We are often called upon to assist sick or injured animals left along the road. Forgotten Friends Pet Rescue has been a 501 (c) 3 not for profit rescue since 2001.

It just doesn't get any cuter than these Rat Terrier mixes. Several of them recently arrived and we have only one left -- and boy, is she a cutey! Would she fit nicely in your home? Please contact us at 518-284-2655 or yodelingyogi@aol.com
2009:
We had a dramatic increase in the number of animals taken in and a decrease in the number of homes looking to take in a new pet. Food donation programs and grants to rescue are on the decline, making it that more difficult for rescues to keep their doors open.
Last year was one of the toughest rescue years yet. Because of the economic hard times more animals (dogs, cats and even horses) were being given up, abandoned and neglected than ever before -- and it continues into 2010.

Yes indeed I'm talkin'..."

We accept PayPal, cash or check donations and our other big need right now is hay. Our animals use over 100 bales of hay every week and our dwindling supply will NOT get us through the winter. Please help any way you can.

We want to send a special thank you out to BUG Country Radio for their support and compassion for our homeless animals. Tune in to BUG Country 99.7 & 101.1FM and listen to your favorite country songs from today and yesterday.

Bishop is a year and a half old male Maltese, whose owner called us because she was losing her place to live and she did not want him to end up on the streets with her. She then found out she could get Section 8 housing but no dogs were allowed. She would not take him to a shelter because he would be killed. So we took him in, got him neutered the next day and he got his vaccines too! And now...he's been adopted and has a new home and family!

A statement from Forgotten Friend’s President Joyce Urban:
I am an animal rights person who has been involved with helping animals all my life. I can always find the best part of an animal. I let them show me who they are and work with what they give me. I will stay up for days with a sick, injured or frightened animal to care for it. Shelters often ask me to take the fear biters or the food-aggressive dogs because I can be the alpha pack leader. One of our vets once told me that I spooked him because I could go in with a panicked horse and it would calm right down and the same with a growling dog.
I started rescuing horses after I was called one day about some donkeys being starved near the NJ/NY border. I went there and there were 45 donkeys all in various stages of malnutrition. I got the owner to sign them over to me and found all but 2 homes. I got very attached to them and the 2 are still with me. This opened my eyes to the needs of horses and donkeys, as well as slaughter houses, auctions houses and feed lots.

We are in need of Frontline Plus for all size dogs. We have many little dogs under 15 pounds, larger ones over 50 pounds and a few in between. If you can help, you can send a donation of Frontline Plus to the address at the top of this page. Thank you!

JONESY
We take many special needs animals like Jonesy. This gorgeous Arabian boy was born in Indiana (his full name is Indiana Jonesy) with underdeveloped eyes and he cannot see. He needs special training and handling so he can lead a happy productive life. He will require a great deal of care. We have set up a special fund for his needs. We believe that all animals are special and some just need a little more care than others. He arrived at our rescue on Saturday, June 14th, 2008.
Please click on the PayPal button and make a donation for "Jonesy" and become a "Jonesy Angel."

********* MISTY NEEDS YOUR HELP!*********

Misty is a special needs dog who has no bottom jaw. She can eat only pureed food. Some sort of horrible injury to her jaw caused the bone to be eaten away by a massive infection is what the vet told us. Found as a stray in the Bronx, NY, she had a litter of puppies which she cared for like no other mother dog with a full jaw could do. She kept them clean and warm while she was starving. She is a loving and courageous girl who will be with us until she dies. Misty loves canned Alpo and canned Kibbles and Bits. You can donate to her food fund and make her tail wag.
Attention: The Misty Fund
SPONSOR ONE OF OUR HOMELESS ANIMALS FOR ONLY $10.00 A
MONTH. You can also give a donation for feed, vet care or for supplies like dewormers, by clicking the Google donate button below. No amount is too small or too big to provide care for an animal in need.
******************************************************************************

Forgotten Friends Pet Rescue is a not-for-profit 501(C)3 rescue organization which takes in animals that would otherwise lose their lives. We take many special needs animals that others turn away from.
Adopting a pet from us is easy! We just require a vet reference, home check and an adoption fee.
We also welcome donations of towels, throw rugs & cleaning supplies. We are in great need of a good running new or used pick up or van. We need volunteers, too. You can give so much to a homeless animal by just spending a little time with them.
