The Putnam Humane Society is located on Old Route 6 in Carmel, NY, behind the Putnam Plaza shopping center. We’re open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mon - Fri, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday & Sunday. (closed legal holidays). Please stop by and visit. You may find a special friend and companion for life.
Adopting a Friend
Before adopting a dog or cat from our shelter, you must fill out an application and be approved. Adoption fees are $120.00 for dogs and $100.00 for cats.
When you adopt from the Putnam Humane Society, your DOG receives:
- Initial visit to specified local veterinarian
- Rabies vaccination
- Distemper/PARVO shot
- Stool check
- Heartworm test
- Spaying or neutering
- New York State dog license
- Microchipping
Your CAT receives:
- Initial visit to specified local veterinarian
- Rabies vaccination
- Feline distemper shot
- Feline AIDS/Leukemia Test
- Stool check
- Spaying or neutering
