Who We Are
Sav-A-Dog has been active in animal welfare in this region for over 20 years. We provide an assortment of services including home care for surrendered animals, last chance for sheltered dogs who are running out of time, counseling, adoptions, spay/neuter information, and public education. We are a non-profit corporation. This means that we depend on the support of animal lovers for donations.

Adopting a friend
Sav-A-Dog operates on a first come, first served basis for adoptions, so your best bet is to call 845-758-9297 if you're seriously interested in a dog that we have listed because we can not guarantee how long they will be available. Emails are answered from a different location so it's best to call if you are interested in a pet. Please make sure that before you adopt a dog, you realize that this is a serious commitment and you have thought it over thoroughly. Too many dogs are placed in shelters after the novelty of having a new puppy wears off and one realizes that it is a big responsibility and a full-time commitment. If you can not make a commitment for at least 10-15 years, then adopting a dog is not for you.
