Featured Pet

UPDATE 3/2/08: Pipsi has had a consultation with a highly respected orthopedic specialist and the news was not good. Pipsi does not have any feeling in her tail or her hind feet and no matter how much stimulus was applied, she didn't feel it. The specialist is sure that when the disc ruptured in her back, it crushed her spinal cord and it is no longer functional. Pipsi has learned to walk because of neurological impulses, her style of walking is called spinal walking. The specialist does not feel that surgery will help at all at this point as the damage is done and too much time has passed. Our next step is a consultation with a veterinarian who specializes in acupuncture. We are hopeful that this or chiropractic adjustments may help Pipsi and we intend to pursue this avenue. Please keep Pipsi in your prayers. This months featured pet is Pipsi. Meet Pipsi. This sweet little lady was living with a young couple who has purchased her from the pound as a gift for their 4 and 5 year old children. Pipsi was also one of about five or six dogs in the home. Somehow little Pipsi injured her back and was dragging her hind legs around, for several months! The family never took her to the vet, they just let her drag herself around in the backyard amongst the other dogs. Eventually the family decided they should buy a lab puppy for the kids, the lab puppy decided it was fun to drag Pipsi around by her back legs and tail! So, they decided to turn Pipsi over to rescue so "she wouldn't get her back broken". We gladly took this little gem into rescue and she is doing great. Pipsi is able to use her legs but they are wobbly. We are trying to crate rest her so her back can heal. Right now it is hard for Pipsi to hold her bladder and bowels for long periods of time, she must be taken out often to relieve herself. This little angel loves life and loves to play and she is looking for that perfect home where she can live the good life from now on. Pipsi is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and has had her teeth cleaned, we think she is around 8 years old. For more info please contact Brenda at 256-0321
