BOWIE is a 4 year old neutered male Chow/Border Collie mix. He weighs 87 lbs. He is very energetic and playful. He will catch balls on the fly but not retrieve. He loves people and has a friendly, affectionate personality. He knows basic commands such as sit, stay and has had some leash training. He is in a foster home with another dog and has gotten along well with this dog.
Tank is estimated to be 6 years old. He weighs 88 lbs. He's a gentle neutered male St. Bernard mix that came into the shelter with cuts and abrasions on his legs. The vet thinks he may have gotten caught in barbed wire. The cuts are healing but he will have some scars on his legs. That hasn't affected his personality though. He is very sweet and affectionate and if you pet him a lot he'll just lay down and put his head in your lap. He has been leash trained and is housebroken. He knows sit and will shake your hand for a treat or just to be friendly. We don't know how he is with cats but he doesn't seem to like small dogs, so he may not do well with any small animals.

But it is a matter of life and death for another animal.
Thank you for helping us save those who cannot help themselves.
If you are looking for a dog who won't bark, jump, dig, chew, shed hair, has perfect manners and is 100% housebroken, may we suggest the stuffed animal aisle at Toys R Us.
Our rescued dogs are not perfect. Some of the dogs you are seeing today were abandoned, abused, starved, shot, hit by cars, or simply neglected by the humans they had once trusted.
A rescued dog can bring a lifetime of love and devotion, but can also require extra effort on your part. Some dogs will need a gentle hand with housebreaking, or learning that they no longer have to fight for their food. After being abandoned, some may have separation issues, and may need help to feel secure again.
Remember, these dogs have lost their homes and families. Their entire world has been turned upside down beyond their capacity to understand, and most will require some time to adjust.
Please have realistic expectations for them.
If you have the patience and compassion it may take to change the life of a rescued dog, you will be rewarded with a lifetime of love and gratitude unequalled by any other species.
But if you cannot make the commitment to work with this dog and to be a wise and compassionate guardian, we respectfully request that you do not adopt from us.
In addition to our fundraising through Scolari's stores, we are always grateful for private donations to support our rescue efforts. We are a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization and all donations are tax-deductible. You may make a donation with PayPal by linking to our own website at www.tahoewarf.com
